Cartoondude135
Bottom centre of the picture with an orange body and white handle. What is that??? I want to say it's a chainsaw, but as I looked closer, I realized it doesn't really look like a chainsaw. Although it has the main body of a chainsaw, the main difference here is it lacks the blade of a chainsaw and has three metal pipes attached to it in a triangular setup. Eric - TIA
I have no idea. You are right, the handle are looks identical to a chainsaw but not the front part. I looked on a couple of websites and can't find this tool.
wingless
Welcome to the forum. Here is that tool zoomed larger. The "chainsaw" appears to drive a reciprocating drive. The triangle appears to have two 2" slides and a third rod w/ an ell handle. Still don't know how this is used when setting metro train tracks.
wingless
Guessing from the tip length and diameter, that tool is used for setting the rail fasteners to the sleepers.
Cartoondude135
Guys, I'm happy to inform you all that we're getting closer to cracking this mystery! Apparently, chainsaws can be equipped with a vast array of attachments! Including a cut-off saw!

Yes, when they cut the bare concrete slab floors in several of my homes they used a chainsaw w/ a large water cooled cutoff wheel. (forget about seeing or breathing inside the house for an hour afterwards w/ the windows and doors open)
