Matt Jones
Hi all, I am trying to repair my Makita angle grinder GA4530R with limited experience! The initial issue was the lock button had broken off and after taken it apart I realised the aluminium gear housing had broken around the shoulder pin and there was broken aluminium all in the gear box. I ordered a new gear box housing. My first issue was finding it very difficult to actually remove the gear housing from the armature assy. I watched some videos and saw various people just tap it off with a rubber hammer but I just couldn't do this with mine. I'm not sure if there was just loads of debris jamming it all together so I persisted and with quite a lot of levering managed to separate them. In the process there is a a retaining ring that has popped out part no. Makita Internal Retaining Ring-* 962105-3. I have looked at the parts diagram but just don't know where it goes. Any help as well as any tips at removing the housing would be greatly appreciated. Matt
