bradleyheathhays Posted July 19, 2023 Report Posted July 19, 2023 I need to cut this squarish hole out of this 1/8" steel plate and the best tool I've got to do it with is a 4 1/2" cut wheel. The white square in the picture is 1 sq in so you can see how my big cut wheel isn't quite nimble enough for the job. If I drilled the corners is there any kind of jig saw blade that would do it? Or maybe some kind of oscillating tool blade? I've got an oscillator but I haven't used it to cut metal yet. Quote
wingless Posted July 19, 2023 Report Posted July 19, 2023 Too bad that hole is sooo small. Yes, a jig saw w/ metal blades will permit that opening to be cut. It is possible to use a jig saw to make the inside 90° cut by starting a turn away from the corner, then cut up to / near the line, then keep repeating the process until that next edge has an opening bigger than a blade width. 1 Quote
Eric - TIA Posted July 19, 2023 Report Posted July 19, 2023 Agree, yes a jig saw metal blade would work with that and 1/8 steel. 2 Quote
