pepin
So I hear all this talk about Klein Tools and the new Milwakee tools but no one says anything about Channel Locks? why is that? i have a pair of these and they have worked GREAT!!! cut anything and everything they just don't quit https://www.channellock.com/337-Cutting-Plier.aspx
ChrisK
I have a couple of Channel Lock pliers and cutters. I like them. Truth be told the only reason I bought the was EVERYTHING else at the time was imported from China. I like the tools a lot and have had them for years. Conductor562
I have over 20 pairs of Channellock brand pliers. They are great quality and will last for years and years. They don't generate the same level of buzz that Klein and some of the other brands do because they don't spend a ton of money on marketing. With the death of the local hardware store and the never ending house brand push at the big boxes, Channellock has kinda become a primarily industrial brand really. NicholasShetley
My grandpa has a lot of them and many are over 20 years old and will most likely outlive me as well. To me channel lock doesn't need to market their tools. When I think of pliers they are the brand I first think of.
TylerDama
What are your opinions on their screwdrivers?
NicholasShetley
I have never realized they made screwdrivers.
pepin
Glad to know they are respected here! They are great tools in my opinion
RedSionnach
You can actually pick them up at walmart too. Walmart started carrying Channellock as part of their 250 billion dollar buying American manufactured products.
Conductor562
The screwdrivers are not made by Channellock. They are rebranded imports. That being said, they're actually pretty nice, especially for the price. Lifetime warranty as well. The ones I used were called "Max Torque" or something and were a Tri-lobe handle similar to a Macsimizer. They kinda put you in mind of Klein's Journeyman series.
175yamaha
I, Personally prefer Channel lock, I love their pliers/have used them for most of my life.
Highdesert Splintermaker
To me the channel lock plier design simply inspires confidence. They are my go to tool whenever I don't need either finesse (needle nose) or retained clamping (vice grips).
BK13
I have a couple of Channel Locks, but I bought a bunch of Knipex pliers right after I bought he CLs, so I've kinda neglected them...
Fazzman
just saw a post on toolguyd about channellock screwdrivers being USA made and remembered this thread. http://toolguyd.com/channellock-screwdrivers-usa/
Highdesert Splintermaker
I'll be interested to read comparison reviews, all the while keeping my fingers crossed I'll be able to watch Stanley, Craftsman, and a few others step aside. Northern Rebel
Channellock tongue and groove pliers are a staple of anybody's toolbox, belt, bag.. A great American company for sure. And their nippers are second to none in my opinion.. perfect for pulling out broken nails. Love em
regopit
No matter what brand I use I always call them Channel Locks. I picked up a couple of the red channel locks made in China, but they seem ok.
LORDDiESEL
Channellocks are awesome! Wilde has come out with some new flush fasteners which are awesome and rebranded as proto. http://www.protoindustrial.com/en/industrial-tools/Proto/Pliers%2c-Snips-%26-Clamps/Pliers-Sets/J200XLS_Proto%C2%AE-4-Piece-XL-Series-Cutting-Pliers-Set-/
