Santi_78342 Posted October 7, 2015 Report Posted October 7, 2015 Anyone have one? How do you like it? This is in the running with the Bosch AG40-85 for the grinder I pick up. It will mostly be used for cutting tile and surface grinding concrete. Can you use 4 1/2" wheels, blades, etc on 5" grinders safely?
jeffmcmillan Posted October 7, 2015 Report Posted October 7, 2015 Smaller wheels are perfectly safe since they'll be rated for a higher RPM, but it generally won't be as effective. Are you planning to get dust shrouds cutting and grinding masonry? I would care more about those than the specific grinder used since grinding masonry is so messy. 1

But the 5" disc will get better depth of cut. 1
Santi_78342 Posted October 8, 2015 Author Report Posted October 8, 2015 Yes, I will definitely be picking up a dust shroud for grinding.
Milwaukeenut Posted October 17, 2015 Report Posted October 17, 2015 I had the 2680 and gave it to a friend and upgraded to the fuel 2781 and both I use for tile and Metal work both work great. I would recommend it.
Santi_78342 Posted October 18, 2015 Author Report Posted October 18, 2015 I am a big Fuel fan and was looking at the 2781, but I can't imagine it having a great run time for surface grinding saw joints and around drains/clean outs on the job. No cord is nice, but having to have a shop vac for dust collection means I have a cord anyway so it defeats the purpose IMO. Would be pretty slick for cutting Tile though.
WeldfabNeil Posted October 18, 2015 Report Posted October 18, 2015 In have three of the millwakee 6177-33d. It's a variable speed version of the one you mentioned. Great grinder. It's got good power but still ergonomically balanced. I really don't have any complaints. I have used for a year an the other 2 are just a few monthes old. When it comes to grinders either go with millwakee or metabo.
Renner_construction Posted October 18, 2015 Report Posted October 18, 2015 I've got the paddle switch version and use it weekly. Battery runtime is unreal if your cutting. Power levels are right on par with a 5amp corded grinder. Heavy heavy grinding? Let's just say she's thirsty. 1
