JimboS1ice
Probably a little ways off from a 12, maybe well se a 10 or a 10inch table saw before we see a cordless 12.
kornomaniac
Although i really like Makita dual 18v brushless slider i do think they could have made it a 10incher with the power and runtime that saw had

kornomaniac
Wel im no engineer so i wouldnt know what upping the size to 10 inch would do but as toolboxbuzz/aconcord Carpenter have proven the runtime on a charge is double that of the dewalt.I just think Makita Engineers have been lazy. They used 80% of the parts from their previous model 18v mitre. They just designed a neW motor, to get the extreme runtime and power, that they pasted on the frame of the previous model.Very quick way to put a cordless mitre on the market which, undoubtetly, is the strongest and fastest their is. But it could have been much more !!
JimboS1ice
Undoubted korno, theres more than what we know, maybe materials, maybe this is their way of getting their foot in the door until they get something else out or maybe that just felt like they needed to put something out. regopit
I don't know if the Makita has a leaser but the DeWalt has the light that cast a blade shadow that works great. I used my Dewalt to put down 800sq Ft of hardwood flooring this week with no problems.
kornomaniac
No laser. Xps system works great y And jimbo you're correct. This one could be a quick tool to bring out ( using 80% of parts from previous model) while they design a 10 incher from scratch to really use the 36v/brushless combo to its full effect.Lets hope hahaha
William S
Makita did the strangest thing . They made a 18V X2 miter saw and its only a 7.5" blade but there 18V saw is 8.5". I wish they would have taken the 18V X2 and brought out a 10" saw.Maybe they will who knows but for $599 (bare tool) I would like at least a 10" saw. William S
I don't own one, but my votes for dewalt of course. The numbers on the other saws r impressive though. I'm waiting for a 12" sliding cordless miter saw. And I'm thinking run time and number of cuts could be easily improved with a diablo blade.Yeah I used the Dewalt blade that came with the saw and wasn't all that impressed so I bought a Diablo and its so much smoother with a cleaner cut that I could definitely see you getting more cuts with the Diablo. Cheng Liu
If your going to limited to one just 1-18v battery, then my vote goes to the 8 1/2" Metabo.John, Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk[emoji848]The only problem I would have with that one is the unusual blade size. 8 1/2" blades are not commonly available especially compared to 7 1/4", 10" or 12". I mention those two because something like that would likely require 40v batteries and those two are the only miter saw manufacturers I know of that also make 40v batteries. JimboS1ice
Don't know if we will see a 12 in cordless miter anytime soon, maybe a 10ch but I can't see dewalt putting the 40v pack in a saw, they e kept that line for their lawn care tools. Now if we see a 40v SDS or something then maybe a miter saw in that platform won't be far along. The problem is the current required for the motor to power that large of a blade and not to lose rpms while making a cut. Now there are some rumors of some new dewalt batteries coming out, so it will be interesting to see this year.JimboSent from my iPad using Tapatalk
JMG
I have an old Bosch 24v NiCad 10" miter saw, currently sitting on the shelf for lack of a good battery to power it. I believe the model number was 3924. When it was new, it was a great light duty portable saw that did not lack for power in cutting 2x material. This particular item is the only Bosch cordless power tool that I purchased over the years that did not die of motor failure and saw quite a bit of use in its time, even as the batteries slowly died. I keep it because I hope to adapt an alternative power source for it someday when I find the time. The fact that a 10" cordless has been produced in the past does make me wonder why one is not currently available though.

Both are brushed so I could see a m18 fuel 10" be on the way. In kinda surprised Makita didn't go 10", they have the bones to push it with 36v and brushless... If I could get my hands on one of those saws I would try to put together a converter to run it off 2x18V batteries but it looks like they've been out of production a while. arkfit
Don't own one, but the 36v Makita sounds like a great option for those in that battery platform. I'm on the dewalt platform, so I'd go with that, though I'd like to see it develop to a larger blade or double bevel...or both!

kornomaniac
Hmmmmm i wonder if it would be possible to stick the 36v brushless Makita model on their corded ls1018 with some tinkering to get a 10inch dual bevel model. Now that would be sweet !
james10million
Out of these two my favourite is the Metabo, but the Makita is more powerful - https://youtu.be/Y797_WDgMCUhttps://youtu.be/qqvi2ljvhAUI have not tried the Dealt yet, but from all accounts sounds pretty good.Good luck with you choice!Sent from my 0PJA10 using Tapatalk
Cheng Liu
What I would love would me a 12" one with a slide that is hybrid (40v and mains power). I would love if Ryobi (since I already own Ryobi 40v batteries for my OPE) would make one, I would buy one as soon as I have space for it.

red tool addict
The Milwaukee rep I talked to said they are coming out with a cordless miter saw soon, either a 10 or 12 inch blade, he wasn't 100% sure it was a 12.

Would battery life in an issue though (assuming they are using an 18v battery)?
