  1. Other than what I mentioned I'd like to get the cut out tool and drywall gun.

Ahh those tools are a bit more specialty, and not likely on Milwaukee's radar I suspect. Dewalt 20V has those though, and brushless too.

If you're going to switch, I'd at least wait until the batteries have status gauges on them, as that will feel like a downgrade from Milwaukee's 4 bars...

  2. you're crazy. the fuel circ saw is just as good, if not better (IMO). the td148 is awesome, but fuel rev 2 is very close. Not sure what difference is between the jigsaws. In many other categories, Red is better.

Unless there are several tools in makita you can't get in Milwaukee, you'd be crazy to switch. For me, they are the best 2 of the main brands.

  3. Smaller wheels are perfectly safe since they'll be rated for a higher RPM, but it generally won't be as effective.

to clarify this, a 4" disc in a 5" grinder is just as effective as in a 4" grinder. But the 5" disc will get better depth of cut.

  4. Why don't you post the list? I'm sure members would be able to give better recommendations then :)

Jason has recommended good (premium) brands above. Maybe you would also like to hear of some good-value budget tools that you'll still get years of use from?

  5. Yeah, they're pretty popular here in the US. Is it safe to use 4 1/2" wheels, blades, etc in a 5" grinder? 4 1/2" stuff is way more readily available than 5".

As long as the arbor/spindle is the same size (it looks like they are), absolutely! After some cuts a 5" disc is only 4-1/2" in diameter anyway :)

But if the 5" is more expensive, and your always going to be buying 4-1/2" discs anyway, not much point.

  6. The other 18v products (impact driver, wrench and compact drill) are quality but no where near the engineering of the 4-Speed drill. I'd happily own them, but I would NOT pay FEIN prices for them. They won't keep up with the latest models from regular brands.

  7. I know what I said and apologized for any confusion. Did you really think I meant V*Ah=W and not Wh?

So thanks for feeling like you had to correct me a second time?

No offense intended. Just on your reply you didn't acknowledge the actual correction (W.h.). This being a forum, with many readers, I like to help people understand correctly, as others have often done for me.

    It's all good!

  8. I hope no one was confused, I specified amp hours. I just assume most understand battery capacity, my bad.

And yes, Hilti does have an additional cell.

I think most around here understand that Amp hours (Ah) are a measure of battery capacity. But in fact, they are only a measure of battery capacity for a given voltage (most often 18v). A 10Ah battery on a 6V tool would still have far less total juice than your Hilti.

I was actually correcting your use of the term '112 Watts'. The battery is not 112W, but 112 Watt hours in capacity (21.6V x 5.2 Ah = 112Wh)

  9. I used 2 freshly charged 5.2's and by the end of the day, my impact is at 4 bars, the drill is at 3 bars. Damn.

112 watts for the 5.2ah, very impressed. Same size and weight as the 3.3ah. Compared to a Milwaukee 5.0ah (90 watts) it's a noticeable difference in runtime.

You mean Watt hours (Wh), 112 Watts would be a very weak drill. Watts is an instantaneous measure of power.

Watts hours are a measure of total juice, and the formula is just voltage x Ah.

Wow, the tool is 21.6V. It must have an extra cell per layer (i.e. 12 cells instead of 10). Of course those are just specs. The efficiency of the drill and electronics of the system could also be contributing to superior runtime.

  10. Haha, buy two of them Dwain and let me keep one and I will send it over to you in Australia!! I will just have to declare it as rocks though for customs. That is insane the price difference though!!

the exchange rate makes up most of it in this case (compared to regular price).
