  1. This thread is seriously tempting me to grab the Dewalt 10.8V / 12V Max screwdriver (i already have the drill). i sold the 10.8V impact for the reasons given above (the 20V kicks its butt)
  2. Good Luck, Chris. I like the look of that children's chair Harold! I think i'll change it to a full coverage seat (rather than slats) and give it a go!
  3. First five arrived today, havent got to play yet but they feel very nice! The 9.5" linesman pliers are a beast!
  4. Good to see another Aussie Thrillhouse! Where ya from?
  5. thanks guys, I'm pretty stoked how its turned out, and so is she! I picked up a 3x3 white cube storage unit at Masters (cheating i know) to give her some space to put all her craft/toys. any suggestions about chair making?
  6. Since this was my first attempt at building anything for INSIDE the house, thought I'd show it off It's a very small bedroom (hence no photos show the whole thing), so it made sense to give her some space under the bed for a desk and storage etc. Next step is a matching chair, which I feel quite out of my reckoning for. Might have to use hardwood (gasp!) and learn to use a router and fancy joins (gasp gasp!).
  7. you're becoming a hazard to my marriage conductor!
  8. me too. deck screws all the way (if cheap enough).
  9. well i've been unable to keep away from amazon for more than a week. added the matching 10" wrench and the 15.5" oil filter plier to my collection! http://www.amazon.com/Channellock-215-2-Inch-Filter-Plier/dp/B0009WG5T4/ref=sr_1_188?s=power-hand-tools&ie=UTF8&qid=1391333433&sr=1-188 can't wait to see the blue tools start arriving...
  10. ive played with them a bit. very versatile, but lacking in grunt. the dcf 885 or 886 leave it for dead with larger fixings (e.g. batten screws or coach bolts with a 15mm socket head). the Bosch is rated higher which just makes me lack all faith in manufacturers claims.
  11. my dewalt has the same play, i'm pretty sure its how the chuck is designed in many impact drivers.//
  12. I've got the 18V multi-tool on the way now. very excited! can anyone give good recommendation for blade brands?
  13. ahh thanks for the video, i know what you mean now. i suppose this would matter in some scenarios, as you don't have to take your hand off the grip. i think i usually switch hands to remove bits, negating this efficiency...
  14. how can you remove bits with one hand on the Dewalt? I always use two hands...
  15. i disagree. 5 years ago you'd have been stoked to get 2ah of lithium battery in the size/weight of the current 4.0ah. Yet we have 2ah in tiny slim batts. and the chargers can be updated. Bosch currently has two chargers, one at 2ah and one at 6ah.
  16. they are great tools. it's really just the impact drivers that I think they are weak in. they're fatter but less powerful than others I've tried. Though they are very quiet while free-spinning.
  17. Good point, I think if i used my rotary more often it might be my favourite!
  18. I'm a bit sick of talking red and yellow all day round here, Bosch makes some awesome tools! I've played with all their drills and impacts, grinder and jigsaw. I really like the compact striker (but didn't keep it on account of having the DCD790), and I love the HT wrench but just don't use it enough. My favourites are the grinder and jigsaw which are both small in the hand but powerful and a pleasure to use. What is your favourite(s)?
  19. Good to know thanks Conductor. Yeah the Irwin groove-locks are a nice tool! I picked up two for AU$30 on clearance the other week (same price for the cutters).
  20. Thanks Conductor. I think I will love them I just don't know how much I'll use them. But hopefully I'll have them for life so will be a good investment.
  21. So down in here in Aus I've not noticed Channellock much before, and they are very pricey. But after reading this - http://toolguyd.com/if-i-lost-all-my-tools-which-brands-would-i-pick-for-replacements/ - and seeing the prices on Knipex at my local Masters, I decided to look into Channellock on Amazon. Thank god for Amazon international shipping! (Though i still get jealous of all the HomeDepot sales). I recently got two pairs of 10" Irwin cutting and groove-lock pliers, so didn't need those. Just this week I've already ordered Stanley 1/2" deep impact sockets and the Dewalt right-angle drill attachment, so my wife may murder me. If i dissapear, you know what happened ... So here is my latest Amazon impulse buy tonight! I
  22. Will probably pickup either the Dewalt or Bosch 18v multi-tool this year (can't decide which). Would love the Dewalt framing nailer but its a pipe dream until it halves in price ...
  23. i know the feeling! my boy is always wanting to play with a drill. its the only reason i haven't sold my 10.8v drill yet!
  24. nice! I love my cordless tools so much I keep 'em all displayed front and centre in the shed
