Mirka is a Finnish brand making expensive tools and mostly in China, unfortunately. I like their small cordless sanders and they use the Metabo's old style 12V batteires, Metabo has switched their batteries to flat sliding batteries, I think if Mirka wants to keep this style of batteries which I agree it suits their 12V tools, they can switch to Bosch 12V batteries and they can be in their battery alliance. I wonder if Mirka makes sand machines for Festool?! I know Fein does make multitools for Festool and in return Festool allowed Fein to use their Tanos tool cases until Fein joined Ampshare battery alliance then they switched to Bosch Lboxx. Mirka is using Festool's Tanos cases, in return for making their sanders?!

I have heard (also experienced) that the brands deal with the warranty in different ways. Festool and Hilti having a good reputation in this field, probably Fein as well, as I am new with them, I assume this is a hidden way of coming to a conclusion how to treat the customer by Milwaukee and maybe by other brands if they have hidden things like that, too. What do you think?! This is a way of collecting data from you, to see if you are a DIY'er or a pro. I don't know about the US, but here in UK if you buy a power tool you buy it on your name, so all is clear.

Whenever you wash a power tool either shake it to take the most of the water out and wait a few days to dry it properly and then use or use a blower or a heater to dry it, then you can use it, I have washed tools myself, but when I know that I am not going to use it for a while. If you have time of course repairing is a better option, less pollution for the environment, no?!

Yes, and the Japanese made Makita tools are their expensive tools, not the cheap tools. There is a huge difference in prices between Japanese made Makita tools and their Chinese made tools.

I prefer the circular saws that the motor is on the right hand side, as I am right handed myself, most of the corded circular saws have the motor on the left which I don't like. So if you are left handed then you could consider the GKS 65 GCE as it has more powerful motor compared to the other one. But as much as I remember circular saws with 165mm blades have a 20mm bore and with 190mm blade have a 30mm bore. So I think the Bosch blade you bought is 190mm blade as you mentioned it has a 30mm bore.

Why don't you use a Tacker. You can duct tape a handle to it also to make it longer. Arrow is a brand professional in this field, the model number in TH50MG, it is made of magnesium to increase durability and to reduce vibration. MG at the end of the model number should stand for Magnesium I think.

These Wiha tools were made in Germany till a few years ago. Now, I think they make them in Vietnam (?). Why not in a Eastern European country instead of Vietnam, China or Taiwan?! Knipex and NWS ones are still made in Germany.

12mm, one before 13mm. The metric sets starts with 6mm, and goes up to 13mm but missing 11mm sometimes depending on the brand. I think mostly Japanese brands make the 11mm as it is used in JIS.

This is the heat gun Steinel has made for Ampshare battery platform working with Bosch batteries. From the photos I can say it is used for heating the felt for the roof, the other heat guns they made for CAS battery platform using Metabo batteries are in the same shape as the others.

Hi Among the ones you have mentioned, one is made by a company that is dedicated to heat guns and hot glue guns and the company is called Steinel, Steinel is a German company that produces in Germany and Romania, also the produce for Bosch and Metabo (not Metabo HPT), now their new tools work with Bosch and Metabo batteries as well. If you already have Bosch batteries then you can go for the Bosch one, Steinel also has a in line heat gun which works with Bosch batteries, If you need more info you can write, what do you need it for?! Other brands make their heat guns in China. Comparing Steinel heat guns with other brands' heat guns is like comparing Festool miter saw with DeWAlT miter saw.

Hi, To me it is important to get Western made or Japanese made tools, and it does not seem I am going to get them from Makita, Milwaukee, DeWALT, Bosch and Metabo. Also it is important to be on less battery platforms. Festool is good but does not have so many cordless tools, so it is also important to be able to get tools for different trades with one or less battery platform(s). A lot of Bosch tools are made in China, but their battery can be used with Fein, Wagner, Cox, Rothenberger and Steinel tools, Cox cordless tools are made in UK, Rothenberger cordless tools are mainly made in Spain, Wagner cordless sprayer is made in Poland, Fein tools are mainly made in Germany, plus Bosch has a 6Ah battery with the same size as their 4Ah and 5Ah batteries, similar to Makita, but DeWALT does not offer that. When it comes to Metabo, they do their tools in a few countries, Germany, Romania, China and I think Korea! But the idea is similar to the Bosch battery, with their battery you can use German made Mafell plung saw, Swiss made Lamello biscuit joiner, Romanian made cordless heat gun and glue gun, German made Trumpf sheet metal cutting tools, different types of German made Gesipa cordless riveters and etc. Fein multitools are amazing with very less vibration compared to DeWALT and Makita ones, and if you are a regular user of this specific tool you better go for Fein or Festool (made by Fein) one. It seems Europeans are more concerned about the environment compared to Americans, that is why you only see European brands (Bosch and Metabo) making battery alliances with a lot of other brands! Not American brands like Milwaukee or DeWALT and not the Japanese Makita. I have the Makita Biscuit joiner (Made in UK), It is OK, I have to admit that Makita's UK made tools are average quality tools and only their Japanese made tools are high quality tools.

I have given up from being on one battery platform, but you can consider being in 2-3 battery platforms, not all. For now I definitely keep batteries from Metabo and Bosch 18V as they both have battery alliances, I got a Fein multitool made in Germany which works with Bosch batteries, it is the same quality as Festool as Fein makes the multitool for Festool, they just have less accessories compared to Festool one amd Festool do make these extra accessories themselves. I have a Steinel cordless glue gun which works with Metabo batteries made in Romania, and I am planning to get a Lamello Biscuit joiner Made in Switzerland which uses Metabo batteries as well. So if you want to get new batteries definitely get some Bosch and Metabo batteries so you can use tools from almost 70 brands just with two different types of batteries from Bosch and Metabo.

There is a British brand called Trend and they have a range that they call it Trend Snappy which has the Snappy drill bits and other hex shank accessories from US plus other accessories from other brands such as G&J Hall (British). G&J Hall produces step drill bits and taps for them, here are the photos. This is the only brand I have seen that does make hex shank taps and only taps (not drill and tap), sizes are metric M3.5, M4, M5, M6, M8 and M10. and they make to step drill bits for them which each of them has three steps for three taps, one is for M3.5 - M5 - M8 and the other one is for M4 - M6 - M10 taps. These photos remind me Snappy step drill bits.

I agree, it is not easy, but start is important also. I don't mind it to be on my name or any other name as long as it is simple, symmetric and logical or if anyone comes up with a better idea I would adopt that.

Yea, you are right, TTI is almost the same with SB&D when it comes to battery issue and they are both kind of American. According to him (from Fein) Japan's Makita would join an alliance earlier that TTI and SB@D.
