  1. It sure was a good year. As for 2014 new release tools, I'm glad that Makita is awake again. I've added the new BL high torque drill, BL grinder, BL drywall gun and 7 1/4" 18v x2 circular saw, and 5-4ah batteries (along with the fan, stick vac, blower and led lights but not sure if those were 2014 tools or not) to my fleet this year and they are all great!

  2. I love my Paslodes. I have two finish guns, the DuoFast (same company) framer, and a paslode roofing gun. Very nice guns all around.

How do you like the roofer? Today I'm wrapping up a 59 Sq roof and would have loved not wrestling air hoses and listening to my gas compressor the whole time

they aren't really production guns though, are they?

  3. From research I've done, the Dewalt cordless seems to be the best. With Paslode you have the additional cost of the fuel cells and the fumes so with that in mind. I lean towards Dewalt. I have also played around with a Paslode that a fellow carpenter friend of mine owns but even he says that I should buy a Dewalt if I'm going for a cordless trim gun.

cool, sounds like you have done your research

  4. If your gonna break your battery platform why don't you go for the best gun regardless of brand. Maybe another company like paslode which has a much more full range of guns should you want to expand. Then all your guns could be one battery and your tools another.

  5. Majority of the 6 1/2" cordless saws are blade left, not sure why.

I know the Makita 7 1/4" 18v X2 and the Milwaukee fuel 7 1/4" are both blade right (sidewinder style) like you prefer.

The nice thing about being right handed and using a blade left saw (worm drive style) is that it makes it a little easier to see your cut line, I prefer this way.. My thinking is that anything that might matter if I have a little nick on the end of my cut should probably be cut on a miter saw. Also with time you get the feel for keeping the saw square at the end of the cut but I understand your fustration..

  6. Yeah. I was aware that the cryo was Chinese made however it has good reviews and I intend to be a little harder on that one so for now it will do just fine, I guess I would have preferred spending a few more bucks on US made. I like the size, design and the deep-carry pocket clip

good to hear that the skyline is a good choice.

I'm sure these two will just be the start of a new obsession!

  7. This was one show that I thought was good for the general public to see. As a contractor, ive noticed people's perception of how long a job should take and what it should cost are so far off because of all these weekend kitchen remodel shows and super low budget/quality flip shows. Mike Holmes actually showed people that there is a downside to fast and cheap work and often renovations aren't cheap to do it right.. I wish there were more shows like it and less of the other garbage.

  8. Nice gun!!

I only have one paslode 16ga gun for quick trim jobs and fixes and am heavily invested in pneumatic (around 15 guns) . I love the idea of going cordless but not sure if I ever will..

I would love if someone came out with a serious cordless roofing nailer. The current paslode seems too slow and the lack of bump fire stinks. When they re-up their cordless roofer game I'll replace all my roofing guns with them for sure.

  9.

    Welcome!

Did you have to shim it to fit flush to the blade mount? I'm seeing prices of white and black between the tool and the festool mount piece in the third pic, those are what I'm rereferring to. If they are shims, we're they supplied with the mount or did you supply them

Looks like you need the long blades to use with the plunge base

Very cool mod, anyone know if it will work with the fein 250??

John, Yes. I made the shim. it came out to be 13/64 thick. I added the white shim to make it exact. -- I bought longer screws 10.6mm at Home Depot and shaved the head down flush with the base plate. -- The only other mod is you have to shorten the base plate (look at the second pic) below the screw holes. Otherwise, it will not fit flush. The casing of the fein gets in the way. -- Your right.  Long blades for the plunge base.

looks like you did a great job with the mods, thanks for all the info!

I notice your in CT, where abouts? Im in West Hartford

    Thats a nice looking knife.

I have always carried a knife, at work a Leatherman Surge and everywhere else a Gerber paraframe, I never put much thought into my EDC knife but just recently decided i should up my game.

I put two knives on my xmas list and thinking im gonna get them both    the Kershaw Skyline with damascus blade for nicer occasions and the Kershaw Cryo II Tanto blackwash for everything else.

do you have any thoughts on these?
