  1. I stripped some wire, used the cutters and used the bolt shear...very impressed with all functionalities, especially the shear. The edges on the jaws are a little sharp but that's just searching for flaws. I hope the person(s) that designed this tool got a raise, this is easily the most well thought out pair of pliers I own. Normally I find these multi-use pliers a master of none but this one does everything really well. I was planning on putting this in my tool box at work but it's looking like it's going in my tool bag, which I reserve for only the most useful tools because I try to keep the weight down.

  2. Yea it is confusing to new people. It looks like it's the newest utb info for some reason. I made the mistake the first time I wrote on the utb page. I thought maybe it was just the way it loaded on my phone.

I definitely understand that. Maybe there should also be a year in the title.

  3. I'd never use the plastic case for a tool I use a lot, they're great for an occasional use tool. I like getting the bags with my power tools, those are much more useful to me. I use one to haul extra stuff I need from home to work or work to home. I'm hoping my next Milwaukee purchase will come with a contractor's bag, could use another one of those to replace the soon to be overflowing HF tool bag for my car's tool bag.

  4. I agree, I think a month or two after the prize gets to the destination. Pics are normally posted so we can congratulate them again and talk about what they're going to use the tools on. I find it pretty annoying when people with 0 posts are asking questions or making suggestions on old threads, this forum is more than just a place to win tools...and they clearly aren't taking the time to read anything.

  5. Yeah, larger than I expected too, it has some nice beef to it,doesnt it?

Definitely, about twice the weight of the Knipex. I'll take a side-by-side picture of them...though the Kleins are about $15 more expensive, worth every penny upon initial impression.

  6. It's a gamble not worth taking in my opinion. Lithium is a different beast than we had with Ni-Cad and if things go wrong, it can be bad. Plus a lot of tools have circuitry that can recognize a generic battery and void your warranty. Honestly, if you get three years out of a battery you use several times a week, it really didn't cost a whole lot in the long run...you get your money's worth. It's just a high initial investment.

Five years ago, you'd hear me say something completely different with Ni-Cad batteries...but we see what these lithium batteries do when they fail, we see the news stories all the time.

  7. Coolness guys, These things are cool, sized nicely for large handed fellers like myself.

They're definitely larger than they looked in the youtube video I originally saw them on. I thought they were the same size as the Knipex electricians pliers but they're much bigger and have many more features! Can't wait to use the bolt shear, I could have used it yesterday but ended up having to get the rotary tool and cut off wheel.

  8. I've had seem bad luck with LEDs couple sylvanias in various spots were dead after 3-4 months. Could have been a bad batch but I switched back to CFLs at a clients home and they haven't had any problems.

I've been having good luck with the Walmart "Great Value" daylight LEDs. They appear to be repackaged GE bulbs, have yet to have one go out on me. Biggest gripe is that I had to go to Walmart, but they were dirt cheap.

  9. Makita gold are awesome, try dewalt max fits too, Bmack is our resident bit guy around here, he's had good experience with German bits, I have some WIHA terminators that are awesome.

Agree with Jimbo, he knows his stuff well. Dewalt MaxFit is very good, if you bought the FlexTorq, I'd return them. If it's the other Dewalt line, it isn't impact rated but the bits aren't bad quality. Makita gold is the best you'll find at HD or Lowe's. Wiha or other European bits are where you're going to find some of the best bits in the world. The USA made bits, are also good but expensive and generally shipping will kill the deal completely. Taiwan bits are generally pretty good. Out of all the bits currently available at HD or Lowe's, only the Makita bits(Japan) aren't made in China. Kobalt is the best non-impact rated bit Lowe's sells in my opinion. For impact at Lowe's I'd go with Irwin but HD has the MaxFit(Impact rated) which is cheaper and better than Irwin. Don't even consider buying Milwaukee screwdriver bits.

I hope I didn't confuse you with all that unsorted information. Of course, it's all subjective some people will disagree.

As far as drill bits, I've had good luck with Dewalt. I hear the new Milwaukee Shockwave Titanium bits are good but the sets are rather small with a fair amount of doubles, which is why I haven't tried them yet.

  10. I've also seen some of the Bosch tools like the reciprocating saws have been on closeout. I haven't found any myself or I would have shared, think it's rather rare...I believe it's no longer on the website anymore or I'd link you...hate that they started taking sale prices off their online store.

  11. Sorry BMACK. Should be on their way at least.

No need to be sorry, being disappointed because of a delay in a prize I didn't do anything to deserve isn't the worse problem I could have! I'm glad you guys are getting yours in, I'm sure mine is nearby anyway. :)

I did browse the Klein pliers at HD yesterday in anticipation, they didn't have the crimper version...lame!
