  1. I like the Pittsburgh ratchets more than Craftsman. Proto is great for USA made but I like Gearwrench 120 XPs, great price and they're smooth.

I suggest getting some Super Lube for anything that you buy, it will make an ok ratchet, much nicer...it will make a nice ratchet, fantastic. Even my low tooth count Williams ratchets are smooth as Pierre McGuire's head but a lot less noisy and weird.

  2. That's another thing I was thinking of doing, it's just the whole mounting process that will give me touble then, I got it going (I held it in place and turned it on) and it cuts fine, but if I let go of the drill it'll just flop to the bench as there's nothing holding it to the saw. I'll take some photos or a video later if that helps if you don't get what I mean.

If you can get it going in than manner, then you can build a jig that attaches a drill. I'd go with a plug in, attach it to where it has a switch then disable the trigger so the drill is always on. This way, you flip the switch and it provides power to the drill and starts the saw. I'd pay attention to the heat on the drill if you do this, you may seriously want to consider putting a temperature relay on the drill so it shuts off if it gets above a certain temperature.

  3. Shouldn't you be able to thread a bolt in there? Then you just need to hook up anything that can turn the bolt. you could use nuts for spacers.

I'm really worried that it's still not going to have the RPM or torque to cut anything thick or dense. You might be better off finding a used motor with decent specs and hooking it up instead of a drill or grinder.

  4. Atta boy, it's a nice knife for the price! I think I got mine in eBay for 15-20ish...

I really like the finish on it. It's not bad at $30, I mean my Colts and S&W were $35-40 12-15 years ago. My Kershaw (Spring assisted) was $50 12-15 years ago also.

BTW, I was browsing knives last night after I posted this. It seems that H&K has some reasonably priced knives (Under $40) that are made in the USA. I was looking at Smoky Mountain Knife Works website. Link: http://www.smkw.com/webapp/eCommerce/products/Heckler%26amp%3BKoch/Heckler+and+Koch+P30+Assisted+Opening+-+SerratedBlack/HK6000008SBT.html

  5. KDV, thanks for that, I didn't know Knipex made a pair like that. You really can't go wrong with either I imagine, I like the Irwin's price (and handle graphics over NWS) more. I know Wiha makes some pliers with a power slot but those are made in Vietnam, not sure if they can compare to the stuff coming out of Germany...which is top notch.

  6. Definitely check your HD's public computer for deals on the Bosch stuff, apparently some of the laser stuff has been extremely discounted. My HDs don't discount anything so I never get to join in on the fun but hopefully some of you get to.

  7. I don't know if I understood correctly about the sections talk, but I don't think a potential youtube video section should be segmented, at least not now. With good titles we should be able to find what we want in a single section and I don't expect to see 10+ different videos posted a day...Maybe at some point but not now, it's a good idea as this forum grows. Maybe making "videos" a subsection of each (applicable) section that's already there, eventually.

I have seen forums where some members had their own dedicated sections, the problem is that as that user is almost obligated to keep it active. I kind of like a surprise "Look what I've been working on" post rather than almost expecting weekly updates.

Again, just my two cents, I could be totally wrong.

  8. Damn you Jimbo:

Have you had good luck with S&W? All two or three of mine only lasted for a month max before the latch was shot and the screws had all walked out.

I stopped carrying it because it was too heavy and I liked my Colt more, I don't like when it feels like there is something in my pocket. My S&W is older so maybe their quality has gone downhill, it's at least 15 years old.

  9. Wow, I must be an idiot, I remember the days when a sampler was free. Now a sampler means you have to pay 20 dollars just to see if you like it. Well what if I don't like it? Does that mean that I just wasted 5, 10, 20 dollars? This world is so far up the ass crack, we can't see our own BS anymore.

To be fair, the link isn't coming from the maker of the beef jerky but from a retailer. Sampler is in the sense of three types of jerky instead of their usual three packs of the same jerky. I'd bet that if you contact Bricktown they'd send you a sample for free, most jerky makers offer free samples if you ask...I normally don't bother, I know what I like and based on reviews and the ingredients I knew I'd like this jerky. Honey Pepper was quite good. Keep in mind it's moist jerky so the amount of jerky you get in a 3oz package is a little less than you'd get in dry jerky.

  10. Wow I can never get a year or two out of my knife before I lose it in some cesspool of a crawlspace lol

I'm really careful with my stuff and keep it clean. I also try to use the proper tool for the job so I don't cut boxes with it, so I'm not constantly dulling the blade. I'm also one of those guys that use pocket clips backwards, so the knife goes into my pocket and the clip is outside, so it doesn't get knocked off if I bump into something. I also don't work in construction, I think if I did I would have replaced the knife several times by now.

I do really like Colt knives, very high quality all-steel construction and can take a beating. S&W also makes nice knives.

  11. Thanks for the comments guys :)

I have the same one, never had switch problems, must be a fluke. ...
I use my heavily for cutting pvc pipe in confined spaces, drywall to make access, and sometimes wood to make room for my plumbing. I can't recall having low power on it, I don't need a whole lot for what I use it for.
    It is priceless though!

I agree, I think I just got a bad one. I'm still not sure whether I'm going to go with the m18 or m12 when I return it. I really like how they include the adapter, it allowed me to buy one of the Dremel blades. I also got a few of the Bosch blades, which didn't need the adapter.
