  1. I agree completely. Years ago I started off looking at Tacomas but realized the price was about the same. That was prior to the 2007 tundra model change though. I really liked the 07 look. My dad just bought a brand new 2017 Tundra TRD a couple months ago. Its his first ever new truck and he loves it. I forgot to mention that I have kinda gotten upgrade fever now. I sent an email to Line X to find out how much it would cost to cover my chrome bumpers with line X. I've also been looking into doing something with the grill to either match body color, go black, or do line X as well. I saw a cool video yesterday to plexi-dip the badges on the truck as well. Cheap and looks simple, but if I don't do something with the chrome on the truck, its almost pointless.
  2. I've owned my 2007 Toyota SR5 Tundra since 2009. In those 8 years, I have not done a thing to improve the look of the vehicle. The previous owner had leather seats installed and I am grateful for that upgrade. A few years ago, I bought a full set of Michelin LTX tires. They were supposed to be the longest lasting tires on the market. Well, the lasted me less than 30,000 miles. Apparently, Michelin is having issues with these tires. So, about 6 months ago, I decided to do something that I have always wanted to do....buy some agressive looking tires. I bought some goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac All Terrain Tires. They look awesome, but the old wheels just weren't doing it for me and over the 10 years of the vehicle's life, they have begun to corrode and the chrome finish was flaking off. I decided to empty my "new tool" account and buy new wheels. Now, I can't have a cool set of wheels and tires and leave it set up lower in the front and higher in the rear. So that lead me to getting a truck leveling kit from Suspension Maxx. The kit raised the front of the truck by 2.5". It doesn't sound like a lot, but it made a pretty decent difference. I am super happy with the way my 10 year old truck looks now. I can see myself keeping this truck for another 3 to 5 years. Here are a few pictures from when I first bought the truck and a few after the facelift.
  3. Time for me to chime in. I have the very first 56 volt mower that they gave out. I love, love, love that thing. Before I go any further, I just saw that Home Depot has the same mower that I have with a larger battery on sale today and today only. It is $150 off putting it in a very good price range for the product I think. Pros: Super quiet, no maintenance, easy to store, easy to clean, light weight, all of the tools in the ego platform are awesome and use the same batteries. Cons: Full price on this unit is a little expensive compared to a gas model. You will need two batteries if you have a large lawn. 20 inch deck. The new models are 21 inch decks. My thoughts: I mow about 1/3 acre. I can just finish it with the 4.o amp hr batter that I got with the unit. The new ones are coming with a 5.0 amp hr unit. I love not dealing with the gas. I can store this unit in the upright position because there is no gas or oil to be concerned with. I can also clean the mower deck easily by lifting the deck to a 90 degree angle with the ground and using a stick to pull out the wet grass. I cut some pretty thick weed and grass behind my property with it and wet grass will start to collect on the underside of the deck like on most mowers. Since their is no oil or gas to worry about, I can put the mower in a great position to clean and since the deck is made of a hard plastic, grass doesn't stick well. The newer model has a 21 inch deck and has the option of self propelled. I do not have that unit. I have come to the conclusion that when the day comes and I have to replace this unit, I will be buying another EGO. At the sale price today of $350, I would jump on it if I needed one.
  4. I have decided on Wood Nut Workshop as my "business" name. I have messed around with a logo too in case I need one at some point. Here is what I have. Please give me any feedback or suggestions you may have. I don't know how well it shows up, but the nut and bolt combo has a wood grain overlay.
  5. We are fine. It was contained and just starting out. I'm going to start soaking them for sure.
  6. This weekend it was warm enough to apply a finish to the chair set. I used Sikkens Cetol 1 Cedar for the finish. What I've been reading is this stuff is great. At $76/gallon, I sure hope it is. I put two coats on and still have a half of a gallon left. So, I should be good for a bunch of years. Oh by the way, I stuck the rags I used to wipe off the excess finish from the chairs into the outside garbage can. A few hours later, I got a call from my neighbor telling me that my garbage can was on fire. Sure enough, the cotton from the rags must have had an exothermic reaction with the finish. The strong breeze we had yesterday, must have added just enough oxygen to the situation to cause it to self combust. It was a mess.
  7. Wood Nut Workshop just jumped up as the front runner....right ahead of Dumb Ass Woodworking
  8. Welcome back. Good to see you back here again.
  9. Man, this is harder than I thought it was going to be. I have been flip flopping from name to name. I just want one name to jump out at me and say "Its me dumb ass, pick me!"
  10. Great point. Great Lakes Woodworks is the one I like best so far.
  11. Added it to the list above.
  12. This might get a ton of hits if I were to register the domain name. Not the target audience, but tons of hits none the less.
  13. Yes I do. Great memory Russ. I have added it to the list.
  14. Okay, I'll start the list. 1. Hybrid Woodworks (Hybrid Woodworking is taken by the Wood Whisperer) 2. Lab Woodworks or Woodworks Lab (I work in a lab) 3. Tech Woodworking 4. Bay City Woodworks or Bay City woodworking 5. Tug Woodworks 6. Basement Woodworks 7. Electric Woodworks 8. Hybrid Workshop 9. Fusion Workshop 10 Mind's Eye Workshop 11 Zen Woodworking 12 Matrix woodworks 13 Workshop Daddy 14 Great Lakes Woodworks 15 Woodnut 16. Tugnut Workshop
  15. Common guys. I don't need likes, I need ideas....LOL
  16. Hey guys, I just dropped a bunch of my cutting boards to a local consignment shop. I want to come up with a business name so that I can set up a LLC, but I am not coming up with anything good. I would love to hear any suggestions you have. I think I would like the word woodworks, woodworking, or workshop in the business name. Have fun with it and ask any questions that you think might help. Thanks.
  17. This is the same model. The only difference is this one comes with a standard base and a plunge base verses just the plunge base. If you don't ever think you will use it in a router table lift, then its okay, but I still wouldn't go with it. Here is why. In the bases, standard and plunge, there are groove on the inside that line up with grooves on motor. This is where the connection is made from your handles (trigger) to the motor itself. I have had the trigger not start the motor on occasion. I have to fiddle with it a bit and then its fine. I think it has to do with how the base connects to the motor. Its just an area that can go wrong. I know any power switch can fail, but there has to be a reason why no other tool company has picked up this design. The thought for this switch modification is so you can start the unit with both hands on the router verses taking one hand off to start the unit. With a plunge base, it doesn't matter and with a standard base, you will never be starting the router with the bit on the wood already....so to me its not a factor. Sorry, I just don't want to see someone make the same mistake I did. Its not a bad router, but it has its drawbacks.
  18. NO NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT get the MRP23EVS. I have this unit. It is okay, but will not work as a unit you can put in a router lift. I brought that fact up to the Bosch router people when I went to one of their media events. I asked what they were thinking and they didn't want to talk about it. It looked like it was a sore subject with them. Just trying to help you out here. I learned the hard way. I had that unit first and then had to go buy a 1617 for the lift I bought.
  19. This is an easy one for me. Bosch actually has two (2+ HP) plunge router kits....the 1617EVSPK and the MRC23EVSK. I have both of them. Out of these, I would definitely buy the 1617 again and again. It has been around for a very long time (tried and true) and does everything extremely well. I would not buy the MRC23 again for two reasons. You can not mount it in a router lift because of the power switch being on the base handle. Also, if something goes wrong with the contacts from the router base unit and the router itself, you are SOL. Porter Cable used to be very good at making routers, but that was before Black N Decker bought them out. They tend to have quality issues now and would stay away from them. Don't know much about DeWalt routers. The palm router is excellent, but I know nothing of the full sized unit. If that is the only one that works with the track, I would go that route, otherwise I would still go with the Bosch. Festool......Not unless I was a pro making money at it or I just wanted the best. I have not used one though. I do have the $100 sander that came out this year, but I'm not impressed with it. 3+ HP units...... Not needed unless you plan on running shaper bits with it. The 2+HP units handle everything I throw at it with ease. As a matter of fact, the palm routers I have handle nearly everything I throw at it. I completely agree with the people above, buy quality bits. I also love Whiteside...as good as Freud but cheaper and made in the USA.
  20. Awesome. Congratulations. One of my favorite shop activities is setting up a new shop. So many possibilities.
  21. I love the joinery and the coop itself. I will have to keep this page bookmarked to revisit the joinery in the future. Looks like it would be super strong.
  22. The buffet this place puts on for weekend breakfasts is awesome. What is even better is the lunch buffet. No wonder I'm so fat.
  23. I should have added where I got it from...sorry. Here is the website. http://www.branding-irons.biz/custom-brand-irons.html I did not order from Rockler. I looked at them, but I just liked the design I picked out a little better. I was trying to come up with a custom logo, but got frustrated with it and just went with a stock one.
  24. I've been wanting an electric branding iron for quite awhile now. I'm not sure why, all that I know is that I wanted one. I finally pulled the trigger and spent the $145-ish to get one. I sell quite a few cutting boards and other items to friends and friends of friends during the holidays and I am thinking of expanding a little. I have an application in at a cosignment shop and I may even try doing an art fair. If anyone has any experience with either of these, I would love to hear what you have to say. Here are some pictures of the branding iron's work.
