  1. Parker is right next to me as I am reading this. He says HI RUSS.
  2. Every once in a while, the boy and I take off in the morning for a "Just the two of us" breakfast. His favorite place to go is the Polish restaurant (Krysiaks) in town that has amazing food. We always have to check what the weather is doing by the "weather rock" outside. If you blow up the picture, you can read how to use the rock......Yesterday it was raining. The rock was right again. This place always give you your money's worth and yesterday was no different. There was more food there than what the Parker could put down. There was nothing really interesting about this post. I just always have a good time when I slow down and take the time to just hang with the family.
  3. I just talked to a friend of mine from another forum that does a lot of the same stuff I do. We have a "made in michigan" fair coming up in the end of September. I think we are going to rent a booth and try to sell some of our stuff. I'm pretty excited to try this out. I guess I have to step up my production and start creating some inventory.
  4. Did not think of that one. No real viking fans around here either, but I may just give that one a shot Thanks a F-ing ton. LOL!
  5. Its made with the X-Carve CNC machine.
  6. These are done with a X-Carve CNC. The board takes about an hour to cut and the D takes another 10 minutes.
  7. I am in the process of building up some cutting board and other nick nack inventory so I can sell them at a future date. I have about 8 state of michigan cutting boards, 4 large stripped boards, 4 small stripped boards, 4 wall hanger Michigan boards and I started making some Detroit Tiger cheese cutting boards. It kinda hit me yesterday, I have some Paduke sitting around and that is the perfect color for the Detroit Tiger's logo. We have tons of Tiger fans here and they should sell fast. I have 6 more D's cut out, so today I will be working on the boards. I plan on making some with the state of michigan on them and possibly some with the MSU Spartan helmet as well. Too bad there isn't a naturally green colored wood. I also have a lot of Purple Heart laying around. The only purple logo that I think people would be interested in is LSU and as far as I know, there aren't a lot of those fans up here.
  8. In case you haven't seen it on the TIA homepage yet, there are two new articles written by @rrmccabe that you should go check out. http://professional-power-tool-guide.com/2017/03/ultimate-wood-twist-drill-bit/ http://professional-power-tool-guide.com/2017/03/leigh-rtj400-dovetailbox-joint-jig/ I've heard some seriously great things about the Fisch bits and really want to get some in the future, but I didn't know that there was such a thing as a dovetail jig used on a router table. Very cool. Great write ups Rich. Look forward to your next one.
  9. I love the Milwaukee M12 Fuel tools. Lots of power for the size tool. Large selection of 12 volt tools by Milwaukee also. Never used the Makita compact tools though.
  10. Porter cable used to be good. Black N Decker now owns them and the quality of the product has significantly dropped. They are built and priced to compete with Ridgid and the likes. I have some really nice older Porter Cable products, but shy away from them now. The same thing happened to Delta. They were bought out, went to crap and is now back on their own trying to rebuild consumer confidence.
  11. I have to appologize. My wife has claimed these for her own. What nerve.
  12. I agree that they are hard to get into and out of....especially the older that I get. I have to say, they are comfortable though. Me and the kids watched Dr. Strange last night and I sat in one for the whole 2 hours. My butt did get a little sore by the end, but other than that, they were super comfy.
  13. Same chairs as I showed on periscope. It doesn't appear the sickken is available at a lot of locations. I had to do a search for my area. From what I am told and what I have read, this stuff appears to be really good......anything else as good?? don't know.
  14. I'm using the dewalt palm router with a straight upcut bit. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  15. I cut a little less than half way through on the xcarve, then cut the rest of the way with the bandsaw. I can cut close to an inch with this unit. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  16. I bought some really cool 2 inch thick wood recently that will make perfect cutting boards and other projects. Last night, I made two Michigan Lower Peninsula cutting boards. One was made from nearly 2 inch thick Walnut with the grain going West to East and another one out of Spalted Maple that started off close to 2 inches in thickness, but got run through the drum sander until I was happy which ended up being about 1.25" thick. I am also working on a Michigan State Spartan piece for an old boss of mine that is retiring soon.
  17. Going to add some Sikken Cetol 1 to the set after it warms up. It would be okay since its cedar, but it will weather pretty quickly without protection.
  18. Hey guys, I made a second chair for my wife and had just enough wood left over that I could make two footrests and a table. As I said before, I made the chairs from Fine Woodworking plans. The footrests and table were designs that I figured out. I can't tell you how frickin comfortable these chairs are with the footrests. I have a feeling we are going to be drinking a few margaritas from them this summer.
  19. I'm not sure how it would hold up to humidity. It does dent pretty easily, but for my shop accessories, I'm fine with it. Especially since I use pine for my trim which will dent a little easier than the sandiply.
  20. Hey @rrmccabe see if your local Home Depot carries SandiPly plywood. I love using this stuff to build items for the shop. there are no voids in the material, its lighter and looks great.
  21. You found out the same thing that I found out years ago. I made a toy chest with oak plywood from menards and I sanded through it really quickly.
  22. Couple things I noticed when going through your pictures Rich. Love the divider between the wash sink and the table saw. Great idea to keep moisture off of your cast iron top. The mobile work bench is the best one that I have ever seen, but of course you have heard me say that before. When did you get that incredible Grizzly bandsaw? I don't remember seeing that before.
  23. I'm not a big fan of the trigger clamps for woodworking. The actual action of working the trigger causes the clamps to not line up with the work piece sometimes. This causes the glue up to shift and place it where it shouldn't be. Parallel, pipe and f body clamps are much better for wood glue ups.
