so what broke?
The base of the gear case that the shoe attaches to. I found it online but it would cost me 73.25 with shipping. Hardly worth repairing.

The biscuit joiner for those Clamex fasteners is 1650.00. I think I'll just cut a dado, glue and shoot some nails for a shop cabinet. But then again it comes with a Systainer.

I really don't see much of a difference to warrant buying a Knaack over the Ridgid box. Unless you move to the larger boxes Ridgid does not offer.
The lock mechanism is different on the Knaack, but it has one lock where the Ridgid has two.
from just knocking on the steel it does not seem like a heavier gauge.

How many people get to do a build like this?

My friend gave it to a Milwaukee rep at HD. The rep shipped it back to Milwaukee for him and Milwaukee shipped him a brand new Surge.
I'd say that's a happy ending. I'm not sure why they replaced it instead of repairing it though.

I've got an axe in the trunk of my work car. I tried using it to clear a downed tree from a roadway. Thank God a road crew came by. It was like hitting a wet log with a baseball bat.
I have some friends that compete in the Stihl Timbersport series. Back in 2007 a race axe was around 400.00. I'm not sure what they go for now. The guy in the video is one of the best axe grinders around. Its amazing how much penetration they get.

I'll look around at work. A lot of guys have the Ridgid 48 x 24 box http://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-48-in-x-24-in-Universal-Storage-Chest-2048-OS/100130283 But I think there are a few Knaack in the same size floating around. I'll see if there is much of a difference.

Any price difference when shopping for the two? Or are Knaack boxes higher quality than the Ridgid?
For the same size box the Knaack is about 200.00 more. I'm not sure if the steel is thicker or not though.

This is an awesome chicken coop. I especially like the corner joinery. I've been kicking around in my head building a bunk bed and was trying to figure out a good way to join the bedframes to the posts without using lag screws or going mortise & tenon and these joins look interesting.
I just figured out the joinery as I went. I will still glue it and use screws. But I'll use a counter sink and cut plugs to fill the holes.
I'm sure there are hidden hardware kits out there if you spend a little time researching it. The joinery stuff if fun if you have the time though

I am planning on building a garage in the relatively near future and my shop will more likely move out to that area
So when should we expect New Shop Underway... Part Three?

No wonder why the Colt kits are selling so cheap.

What about the smaller Ridgid job box?
http://m.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-32-in-x-19-in-Portable-Storage-Chest-2032-OS/100189569
It's 32x19 and weighs 77 lbs. empty, so you won't be throwing it anywhere,
The Ridgid boxes are actually made by Knaack. I recently emailed Ridgid to buy the Ubolts that hold the locks into their boxes and they forwarded me to the knaack website.

Lotta help now ?
I got the original few when my wife's family shut their lumber yard down. I was over there picking up other shit and figured they were close enough to her Pinterest find to meet her approval. Problem was that I needed 12 and they only had 5 left (one of which I broke). The first ones I cut out I did in 1/4" before I realized it was actually 3/8" ?
I couldnt find 3/8" ply at either big box, so I planed down a 1x12 and went from there. So I had a bit of practice by the time I made the ones pictured. Definitely not my first attempt
They came out very nice, I never saw that detail before.

I have to take it back what I said about setting 1 being useless. The more I use the gun the more uses I find for it. Setting 1 is pretty handy for fine work, no worring about stripping out small screws.

What is so special about these old laminate routers? There is a few of them on eBay and they are asking close to 200.00.
There was one exactly like this one near me on CL the guys was asking 200.00 and the listing is gone in a day.
