I'd be interested to see them side by side

I really don't see much of a difference to warrant buying a Knaack over the Ridgid box. Unless you move to the larger boxes Ridgid does not offer.

The lock mechanism is different on the Knaack, but it has one lock where the Ridgid has two.

from just knocking on the steel it does not seem like a heavier gauge.

I've got an axe in the trunk of my work car. I tried using it to clear a downed tree from a roadway. Thank God a road crew came by. It was like hitting a wet log with a baseball bat.

I have some friends that compete in the Stihl Timbersport series. Back in 2007 a race axe was around 400.00. I'm not sure what they go for now. The guy in the video is one of the best axe grinders around. Its amazing how much penetration they get.

Any price difference when shopping for the two? Or are Knaack boxes higher quality than the Ridgid?

For the same size box the Knaack is about 200.00 more. I'm not sure if the steel is thicker or not though.

This is an awesome chicken coop. I especially like the corner joinery. I've been kicking around in my head building a bunk bed and was trying to figure out a good way to join the bedframes to the posts without using lag screws or going mortise & tenon and these joins look interesting.

I just figured out the joinery as I went. I will still glue it and use screws. But I'll use a counter sink and cut plugs to fill the holes.

I'm sure there are hidden hardware kits out there if you spend a little time researching it. The joinery stuff if fun if you have the time though

  5. I started building a chicken coop for one of the designers at work. Its going to be painted so we are just using doug fir. I hope the chickens appreciate some of the joinery I was playing with. :)

    Lotta help now ?

I got the original few when my wife's family shut their lumber yard down. I was over there picking up other shit and figured they were close enough to her Pinterest find to meet her approval. Problem was that I needed 12 and they only had 5 left (one of which I broke). The first ones I cut out I did in 1/4" before I realized it was actually 3/8" ?

I couldnt find 3/8" ply at either big box, so I planed down a 1x12 and went from there. So I had a bit of practice by the time I made the ones pictured. Definitely not my first attempt

They came out very nice, I never saw that detail before.

  7. What is so special about these old laminate routers? There is a few of them on eBay and they are asking close to 200.00.
