Not so happy with my TSC 55 at the moment. I was cutting some 1 1/2 in MDF the other day and had some smoke coming out of the motor. Not long cuts at all, 4 cuts less than 2 feet. After I was done I put it away. Today I go to use it and nothing, nada, zip. So back to Festool it goes.

Same thing happened to a friend of mine. He was going to take it apart but there is a sticker on it saying contents under pressure blah blah blah, so he was afraid of voiding the warranty and sent it back to Milwaukee

Porter cable is kind of a mixed bag, some of their line is tried and true a standard in the industry and some I'm not really interested in if you gave it to me.

Picked up 2 free clamps from CL today to add to the collection.

The 6 pack of Fein blades was on sale for 29.99 at my local lumber yard. I also picked up a Norske blade, I like it better than the fein design as I've been having a problem with them falling apart after a lot of flush cuts.

Locks of that style are not very common in The States. Some of the older homes used that style, but I rarely see them any more. I've run a Festool router hooked to a Dust extractor using a trim bit on prelaminated MDF and I was still covered in dust and there was a huge mess on the floor. Dust ports on a router are not that impressive

The 12.0 would probably sit so low the base would not even touch the material being cut.

Unfortunately the Barrel grip will not be released till Nov.

I picked up the 7 1/4 Miter saw. I could be a great little trim saw, I hope the dust collection is decent.

I've used some Lenox Sawzall blades and hole saws over the years. Cant really say they they were better or worse than anything else I've used. I mainly buy Milwaukee Sawzall blades and hole saws, because they are readily available at HD.

Another option, since you plan on using 27mm plywood do you plan on edge banding it? If you are then you can use two layers of 18mm plywood, make the top in one piece and the second layer in two pieces giving you the dado, then edge band. It would be a little thicker but a quicker build.

I will just stick with Festool blades, If I was going to try any other brands I would try Infinity tools blade, but there really isn't much of a significant saving to sway me.

Look like the majority of the support is coming from the bracket. I would dado it, just mount your router in a table and make a fence for it. Since you don't have a Table saw, that would probably be the quickest way to produce them with the same results.

I have one very similar but its the 5 speed version. They are good for setting up in a router table as they are so heavy to work with. We mainly use them when cutting templates out of 3/4 + Plywood or 3/4 + MDF.
