  1. I have high end kit for personal use and Ryobi to lend out as loaners, I've had two high end drills dropped and subsequently damaged when other people were using them. I also won't lose sleep if the Ryobi kit gets stolen.
  2. Spread the love, people, spread the love! If you're using them to earn your living, then they're an investment! You're also going to see much longer lifespans from them because you're spreading the load by not using the same machine every day!
  3. Now on to battery platform number four, just bought a Bosch 36v SDS, GBH 36 VF LI to be precise. It came with one 4 Amp battery for 360 quid, good price for the UK. I've picked up a 2 Amp pack for 45 quid to give me a second pack, that'll do for now. Will probably get another 4 Amp pack later, but this'll do until I find a bargain. I really want the matching combi drill, but they seem thin on the ground, hope Bosch aren't going to drop them! As I use these tools daily, I don't see it as a problem. Storing them is definitely a problem! They take up a lot of space!
  4. Bosch GBH 36 VF LI, one of the best cordless SDS drills around in my book, and now I own one! The spending has to stop! No pics as I've not switched from farcebucket yet.
  5. What about runtimes and recharging? Is it a nuisance or just plan ahead and you're good to go? Definitely has the noise advantage.
  6. Ah, I'll shut up about batteries then!
  7. Got both, they're nice machines. Not keen on the push towards compact drills, I prefer a bit of projection with the chuck, so that it sticks out further from the drill than the battery. Otherwise, all good. Definitely worth getting a larger battery than the 2 amp.
  8. Love the concept of these, but can't see real world use unless you've got a large stack of batteries. If you don't have a lot of batteries, you're gonna need power nearby to recharge it, if you've got power nearby then you don't need it. If you're working out in the field, literally, then you'll need stacks of batteries or a petrol generator, but if you've got a petrol generator, then why bother with this? Only useful as a standby power supply of you've got batteries pre-charged, I never leave cells fully charged as I've been taught it's harmful to lithium cells to store them fully charged. Like I said, loving the concept, but can't see me ever needing one. Would like to hear other views on my comments.
  9. I remember the first time I used a chasing machine that claimed to be "dust-free", within seconds you couldn't see across the room! That was fifteen years ago. Recently used a Hilti that collected approximately 95% of the dust, awesome machine!

    Want this so bad!

Actually, more research shows this is more suited to me, it has the hammer function. https://www.hilti.co.uk/cordless-systems/cordless-drills/3554825

    Want this so bad!

Is that bad, considering the inventory I've already got? https://www.hilti.co.uk/cordless-systems/cordless-drills/3559296 I really blame AvE!
  12. I use a Milwaukee M12 lantern, awesome kit complete with USB port!
  13. My M28 SDS came into its own today, one 5 Amp battery was enough to core out a double skin wall for a 4" extract fan. What a machine!
  14. The flexvolt packs come with the caps you're supposed to keep and use when the packs aren't in use, good idea that I've followed from the off. Common sense approach should keep you safe.
  15. They'll be fine, no reason to panic.
  16. My DCH323 was today's star of the show. Mainly chasing walls with some drilling thrown in. Very impressive runtimes when chasing masonry, especially considering they're only the 2/6 packs. No broken chisel tips either, thanks to the lower impact energy compared to similar machines.
  17. Watched this last night, good vid with good info. What I don't like about my 887 is the rate of acceleration in speeds two and three, it's way too quick off the mark. This programmable idea from Milwaukee is a definite plus point. I originally thought it was a bit gimmicky, but I think it is definitely worth all the big names jumping on to.
  18. The ball is rolling, keep em coming!
  19. SDS is probably the best thing since sliced bread! (In terms of masonry drilling)
  20. Me too! I was giggling as I typed the topic title!
  21. I wish I'd filmed it, the drill was being used yesterday to drill down-lights into an old lathe and plaster ceiling and while I was drilling the trunking in the pic above, the 996 would occasionally eject a burst of dust. This would happen when the motor was under load. The dust must've collected inside the motor housing yesterday. Some of the dust bursts were really quite large! I'm sure there's no harm done, but I'll keep an eye on it anyway.
  22. I was tidying up the van today and couldn't help myself. I grabbed the 996 and a pair of TCT hole saws and went to town drilling holes. Satisfying, that's the word. Anyone else care to share?
