  1. J.C.B make a phone (Yep the folks that make the big yellow diggers lol ).It's called a site master costs less than a hundred quid and it is supposed to be damn near indestructible. :D

They also make what they call the tough phone which is about 240 quid so that one must be bomb proof. LMAO.

  2. Not where I live Pal.

It is interesting how it can change by region as well as country.

Some guys call they're impact driver just an "Impact".You have to remember the U.K is only about 600 miles long and 450 or so miles wide and some of that is lakes and a bit of Irish sea in there as well, and has more regional accents per square mile than I think anywhere else.So it can get a bit complicated at times.LOL :)

We tend to define them as ordinary Hammer drill and S.D.S Hammer drill.

  3. ooooooooooooooooooooooooogh what an awful woeful hateful little thing!!!!!

I had one turn up in a kit and it is honestly currently the worst power tool I have ever had the misfortune to lay a hand on.

Waiting for this thing to cut was like watching a rock face erode in the wind.

The first cut the blade stayed in the wood and pulled out of the damn thing and when I finally found a blade that would stay in it, there was more power in a butterflies wing beat. LOL An absolute joke of a tool.

Craftsman may make some very good tools but this is not one of them.

    :(

To balance this out, the auto hammer from the same kit which knocks in nails has been a very handy tool I use it for nail on clips on pipes and wiring and it gets in places where you could never swing a hammer.the torch is a belter and the small drill is great for small pilot holes.

    :)

My advice folks is if you buy the kit leave the jigsaw on the counter and maybe the manufacturer will take the hint and bin this horrible little toy and make something that is more useful, and much better built.

  4. I think with Milwaukee sometimes it is not just about run time.It is also about how fast the tool completes the application, two drills for example may drill almost the same number of holes, but one of them may do it much more quickly e.g in a higher gear or with more r.p.m.

When you factor in the performance advantage between the old Milwaukee battery and new Milwaukee red lithium battery, it is the amps that can be pulled from it over a slightly longer period, effectively giving you a slightly more powerful tool, as well as a small improvement in run time. :)

  5. You sound like you have the same problems with the cost of shipping as me.

It is easy to forget just how vast countries like the U.S and Australia are compared to the U.K and so shipping across them costs as much sometimes as say me buying from abroad.

It also seems sometimes that it is easier for me all the way over here to get information about tool availability in the U.S than people I know over there.

Maybe it is how our internet is set up to work or something but I do not get bombarded as much as you guys with crap I don't want while searching for stuff I do, compared to folks in the U.S.

But once you deal with a company in the U.S you find out just how great they are on service and they go the extra mile, or they have for me thus far. :)

  6. As regular visitors will know I am a big fan of Metabo and have bought quite a few to replace tools that were stolen a few months back.

Here however is an honest unbiased review of this tool that I have been using on real building projects.

I have been reminded that in the U.S this is called a Rotary Hammer. :D

So you work hard and are sick of power cable tangles and want to save time?

I bought this drill with 3 3ah batteries a while back and have been using it for a few months now.

In that time I have never once had to reach for the corded drill, this thing is a beast and works all day drilling through metal underlay sheets through into concrete for hammer set M10 bolt anchors to support heavy cast iron pipework with no problem at all.Drilling 1 inch holes through solid stone walls has been easy because the hammer action is awsome on this tool.

Turn the dial and you can chisel out for those cables too, and it wont vibrate your teeth out or send your hands numb.

Turn it again and you can drill without hammer action.

The run time on the battery packs is very very good as well, the 3 batteries kept me going for a ten hour shift.

I have only one tiny complaint and that is the damn thing fits so snug in the carry case that you won't get it out with your gloves on.

In short then, if you drill holes of 1 inch or lower in concrete or brick, and you do that all day every day, then finally theses a battery powered drill that can do that in the real world and not just once in a while.

You can also purchase the fob that means nobody but you gets to use your drill.( handy for those of us out in the rough tough site world).

  7. Well folks the Impact clutch is STILL going strong and I am amazed.

I now use it on time saver couplings on cast iron pipe because my impact would shatter the iron couplings if I over did it.

You can imagine 8 bolts per coupling on 6 inch and at least two couplings per fitting, three on e tee, that on a job site it doesn't take long before you are into thousands.

These have an allen key head and the Dewalt Impact Clutch has stood up to doing thousands of these.

Also it means no matter what drill you use, you can still only apply the exact same amount of force.

If you have a drill or an impact driver I strongly recommend you get one of these.

It would be nice to have one you could put in your impact driver and set to an exact torque setting though. Please make one Dewalt. :D

  8. Me and my little woman have an understanding. For every minute she drags me round the clothing and shoe shops, she has to come walk round the tool stores.I thoroughly recommend this to all you guys, as she now takes a fraction of the time, and has started shopping on-line. LOL :)

  9. I must admit being over here in the U.K wet and windy is no stranger, and my tools get hammered so I must be the worlds hardest on allmy tool kit.

And because it is such a varied game I am in, there is virtually no tool that I wouldn't have some kind of use for,and the habit of cleaning and oiling tools has made many last much longer and better. But it is not always easy to find the time.

I would like to get my hands on some of the new Panasonic range,as they are awsome for those of us who need to keep working when the weather is awful. :)
