  1. Can’t say honestly. I frequent a Craftsman Owners group on FB, and of all the new tools debuting this season, a trim router is not one of them. SBD needs to find a way to make a less expensive version of their DeWalt that won’t take away sales from the flag ship brand. So it might take a minute.
  2. Going off my last project that I used my cordless grinder with sustained usage. In order for me to work with no interruption required alternating between five 4ah batteries on fast chargers. Don't know if you need to run continuously, but that's what it took. And by the time I was done, I wish I had bought a corded grinder instead.
  3. Sorry, I meant E-Bay...... https://www.ebay.com/itm/313929294274?chn=ps&_trkparms=ispr%3D1&amdata=enc%3A1XEAdlh5YRSe8NwFkczZHaA15&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&itemid=313929294274&targetid=1599090334937&device=c&mktype=&googleloc=9003345&poi=&campaignid=15275224983&mkgroupid=131097072938&rlsatarget=pla-1599090334937&abcId=9300697&merchantid=6296724&gclid=CjwKCAjw682TBhATEiwA9crl3_HxtvTNbNBGMtJ5V9n7e9jS2gqjojk8xvXxk82QWzOrK9F5QVSgvBoCtHgQAvD_BwE Good luck. Hope your machine doesn't blow up.
  4. You're not wrong. At least it should be a quality product.
  5. So in your case. What would you consider an ideal amount of batteries and chargers to run continuously? It’s what I’d thinking about ahead of time for when I decide to buy a mower and stop paying for a landscaper.
  6. I think maybe Craftsman is turning the corner to begin a run at Ryobi, and all the laziness SBD showed in the initial roll out by cloning everything is stopping. As for the cut out tool, I just don’t see where I would use it over an OSM.
  7. Stanley Fat Max are the same battery as the Craftsman V20. There are tons of Amazon sellers selling adapters online. I’m sure you’ll have no issue finding one. My only caution to you is that using one might void your warranty should it fry the router. You can find cheaper DeWalt batteries on EBay.

    String trimmer

Usually the letters after the numbers denotes whether it’s a bare tool or if it comes with a battery or if it comes in a combo kit. You should be fine with your purchase.
  9. My craftsman group started posting their most recent pick ups from the store. My Father's day list is getting bigger.
  10. In terms of finding service providers. I've always known a guy who usually knows a guy himself. And that's how I network.
  11. I'd disassemble it and give it a good cleaning. sometimes dirt and debris can get in there and mess with the mechanisms.
  12. Yeah, they are pretty vague as some models are out to hit certain price points. I’ll work off their list that they have listed as newest to oldest….. A “B” usually means bare tool. A “C” means combo kit. 850- Most recent Atomic model, 3 speed Brushless. 885- Basic entry level brushed model. A solid DIY tool. 787- Basic entry level brushless model with a single LED light. Single speed trigger. 840- If things go accordingly, this should be an upgraded replacement for the 787 since there is no speed selector. 887/888 - These were the top dogs of the line before the 840/850 came out. 3 speed. Pro grade tool. 809- The old Atomic that was replaced by the 850. 825- Very old 18v stem battery model. As I said, the 840 and 850 are the newest models with better or equal stats to the 887 depending on batteries used. And it will be amazing to get a 3 speed 840 sized impact later in the year as it is smaller than the 887, but just as powerful. So buy accordingly. Buy what you think will suit your needs. Edit: With the 885 brushed model. Some owners just go ahead and replace the brushes on them. There are tutorial videos on how to do it on Youtube.
  13. Cool. It's like a mobile wood shop.
  14. I have an idea for E-Go. Half Price Father's Day sale. Make it happen!! 😄
  15. Here's the link with the settings for the 3D Printer. If you or someone you know does 3D printing you can get your hand on those. https://3dprints.electronsmith.com/dewalt-toughcase-utility-blade-holder/
  16. I had the same issue with my old Porter Cable brushed tools. More prominent makers like DeWalt and Makita make models you can repair. OR......you can modernize and buy a Brushless model. They really aren't all that expensive any more. And you'll never have to replace a brush EVER.
  17. If I am reading this diagram correctly for your model drill. You might have bought the wrong part. Lower end drills tend to use encapsulated motors that do not lend themselves to repair. The brushes are inside the motor unit. You can however buy a whole new motor unit and have a fresh drill. https://www.repairtoolparts.com/hitachi-parts/hitachi-dv18dsfl-parts/hitachi-332-020-motor-dc-18v
  18. That seems like a lot of work. I'd just go buy another Impact.
  19. When I first started using power tools, I bought the Porter Cable brushed combo set in 20V. I gotta say, for the first couple years I never used the impact driver at all. It seemed unwieldy, and over drove the screws I was trying to attach. The drill on the other hand was perfect with the adjustable clutch. Then one day a buddy of mind convinced me I was missing out, and showed me how to properly run an impact. Then it was my drill that became the odd man out. Eventually when I started to try my hand at woodworking and began watching videos from various tool channel and creators, I began to use both equally. So now I find that the foundation of a good beginner power tool set is an Impact Driver, Hammer Drill, and Circular saw, plus all various hand tools. Everything else is a "nice to have" option, like my SDS Rotary drill.
  20. My weapons are always Condition 1 for rifles. Condition 0 for the Glock. Everyone in my home, including the kids are trained to shoot. Weapon is either on my body or locked up.
  21. Well……the models you listed are going to be phased out soon. The two newest models are the DCF 850 and DCF 840. The DCF850 is the newest ultra compact 3 speed brushless impact driver. Tons of power in something as small as the old Atomic was. The DCF840 is the newest single variable speed modeled to take over the 887’s spot. I would assume later in the year they will make a 3 speed version of this as well. That model will be the 887’s true successor if the 850 wasn’t. I would also assume later in the year there will be a version that supports Bluetooth tracking as well. If you are looking to buy sooner than later, buy the 850 and call it a day.
