JimboS1ice
Spray it on, let it soak a few hours, and wipe it off. Do that about every 3-4 months. https://www.wd40specialist.com/products/corrosion-inhibitor/This is a great productSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Foneguy
My shop is in my garage, humidity here is typically 95% in the summer. Rust is quick.....gonna try what @JimboS1ice recommended
JimboS1ice
Even a light wipe of regular wd-40 will help keep rust off of most metal surfacesSent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Not so much the salty air, I'm a few miles (5) away, but the humidity is sick

That's what's nice about where i'm at in Ohio, far away from oceans... although whenever it rains heavy, there are quite a few bodies of water that stick around for awhile. It's the Great Black Swamp trying to reclaim its territory.. I like Comp's father's idea, i too, have to deal with an unheated garage BUT last summer i popped in an old window shaker A/C and that really helped control the humidity. It's the temp swings in the winter that help attract moisture on cast iron and leaves a layer of rust oh boy.. so then i do this: .. Now i've been taking preventative measures to not let this happen again...

comp56
I really don't know why table saw manufacturers especially high end cabinet saws don't get their beds plated with industrial hard chrome, like on hydraulic cylinders not bumpers. (not the shiny nickle plating) you could put a flash electroplate on it in seconds and it would most likely last 25+ years sliding wood across it. We used to flash plate hog heads and they lasted 10 times longer but seen 1000 time more abuse than any table saw would see in it's life time. the hard chrome would not even be noticed as under 4 or 5 thousands of an inch it is transparent and a flash plate would be probably less than half a thou

Conductor562
Do the type of capable makers that use quality table saws really replace them when the table gets rusted?
rrmccabe
I will say I almost bought a table saw with granite top to stop rust but could not give up using magswitch stuff.
