Conductor562
I prefer a 1/4 sheet palm sander myself as most of my needs are finish sanding. If you're doing any rough sanding though, you'll make a lot quicker work of it with a random orbital. I build a lot of primitive furniture and the orbital wont get into corners or tight areas.
crazyandy
I have had better luck with a random orbit sander for the type of woodworking I do but it all depends on your application because there has been times I could of used a palm sander

Conductor562
I don't even own a belt sander anymore
FerTheHandyman
Random orbital and a belt sander is what I use for most of my work. If I have tight spaces I like using my rockwell multi tool with the sander adapter.

I have'nt had any problems with it but the blades are kinda expensive.

crazyandy
I have tried both and they both do great work!
Conductor562
I have a cordless Milwaukee and a corded Porter Cable. The Milwaukee is great but the tool free blade change on the PC is awesome!
FerTheHandyman
Is it cordless or corded? It is corded. I have'nt tried the cordless but seems to me that this is a tool that you would want corded. But I might be wrong maybe having both is the way to go. Conductor562
Depends. My M12 Milwaukee is sufficient in 9 of 10 cases. If you have a few batteries or your batteries are the new 4.0 packs, it would probably be sufficient in 95% of cases. Depends on what you're using it for I suppose. I did go with the Milwaukee mini recip so I might have to expand on the 12v.

crazyandy
The M12 Jigsaw is very nice and for sure comes in handy!
Conductor562
You don't think of a 12V Jig saw being much, but it is. The design of it is spectacular and offers more control than any other Jig saw I've ever used.
