londonerryan
Hi guys, I purchased a Ryobi R18PD3 combi drill 6 or 7 months ago and it's been great for what i need. I use it for simple DIY jobs and this summer i've been using it to make wooden planters for my allotment, so drilling into pallet wood basically. But in the last month the chuck has blocked twice. The last time it happened it felt quite overheated. I'd probably finished one 2ah battery and was into another by about 10 minutes. I wouldn't call that excessive use. I sprayed inside the chuck with some WD40 and forced the chuck out, as i'd seen done in a YouTube video. But i've noticed the chuck isn't quite as tight as it was. The drill bit has fallen out a couple of times and i've had to tighten it. Doesn't fill me with confidence that the drill will last for years. Anybody else had these issues with overheating and/or the chuck getting stuck? Was i right in oiling the chuck and forcing it open? Cheers for any advice.
