I have only ever seen the round ones that are flush with the surface of the street.here in the uk they are very popular. there are drain covers in nearly every drive or garden in the uk. they are ugly and its nice to be able to hide them like this. you can put anything in them to match. It does suck when you have some kind of drain or something that takes away from the aesthetics of the project.yeah they can be a pain it takes about an hour from start to finish. but your right it does really spoil a job we fit these as standard for the customer free of charge. its good to take pride in your work and look at it as if it was at your own home.
