comp56 Posted January 3, 2015 Report Posted January 3, 2015 made an online order for some tools and such and decided to grab one of these while I was at it......anyone else using one of these? I will post some pics once I receive it and get it set up......
madman_us Posted January 3, 2015 Report Posted January 3, 2015 i don't own one - but i was always looking at those.im going to build my own cyclone for my 2hp motor/blower with 1600CFM.bought clear plastic sheets last year - just have to get started lol.
NERemodeling Posted January 3, 2015 Report Posted January 3, 2015 I have the steel one, I bought it years ago.. I don't think there is any reason to go with the metal one.. the plastic will serve you fine.it just sat for a while until probably a year ago when I got serious about dust collection. I built my own wood box that integrated with my festool CT vacs. It seriously works amazing!I use it with my planex for drywall sanding, table saw, planers and routers.I've made a few mods to it since this picture but nothing major. One is I use a much shorter hose from the top to the vac.I essentially made my own ultimate dust deputy, I couldn't justify spending 250 when I already had the parts to build one
madman_us Posted January 3, 2015 Report Posted January 3, 2015 i agree with you NER, for those cyclones they just want to much money, you can easily build one out of a galvanized metal sheet or a street cone
comp56 Posted January 3, 2015 Author Report Posted January 3, 2015 metal was pricey but plastic one was on sale for $44 free shipping thought that was reasonable.....
madman_us Posted January 3, 2015 Report Posted January 3, 2015 $44 is pretty nice - i cant find any under $60 - always 60-75
ChrisK Posted January 3, 2015 Report Posted January 3, 2015 Comp....check this out.http://youtu.be/-Ct5R6_bj80?list=PLE3F788962E4EDDA0

NERemodeling Posted January 3, 2015 Report Posted January 3, 2015 Those street cone ones are crazy! Not the best thing to look at but I bet they get the job done
chadlanthier Posted January 3, 2015 Report Posted January 3, 2015 I never thought about theses, I thought my dust extractor was all I needed. But damnit I think I might pick one of these up know. Thanks guys.
rfwjr Posted January 6, 2015 Report Posted January 6, 2015 You could build a Thien Separator if you do not want to buy one. You can size it to the container of your choice. I built one for a 7 gallon bucket but I have seen some built on a 30 gallon trash can.
