DR99
Clipped head nails are not code in a lot of places now. Clipped head was popular because you had more nails in your magazine that has changed as they have the offset full head nails now

NERemodeling
If your buying a gun stick with paper tape or wire collated full head nails. Wire being the best imo. The plastic collated are nice but the spit bits of plastic everywhere..For a repair like yours I would most likely frame it with screws. Get some nice grk r4 9 × 3 1/8" and go to town..
madman_us
im not buying a gun just for that job - friend gave me his gun so no need to buy one
ChrisK
Thanks for defining it DR, I have always used full head and kind of assumed that but really didn't know. And what NER says dude....screw screw screw! Cost more but way more strong and GRK are the best in my opinion.

Poisonfangs85
If you have to dig out a nail with a catspaw it's easier to get at a full head, just my .
Conductor562
Other than mag capacity, I don't see any advantage to clipped nails
