    Torque

Depends on the impact model. Milwaukee does measure torque differently though.
  2. Yes it can handle the 4.5", just always verify the wheel you are using can handle the speed of the grinder. The D28114 has the CEC electronic control system; most people love it, but some do not, so both options are available. As far as which is better, I would of course suggest the 114. The theory behind the electronic controls is to make it better, and in my experience, I have only seen 2 users out of hundreds that I work with who worked in situations where the electronics didn't work well for them. I would say that 99%+ of users would prefer the CEC.
  3. I have not seen the new radio either, so I can't speak to the picture. I wouldn't pay attention to that price though. Weigh the other factors (Grainger and European). As far as the rep at your home depot... Our HD and Lowes reps are good guys, and should be pretty knowledgable on the tools that are carried in their respective box stores, but they typically do not deal with the rest of the DeWALT line.
  4. Sorry, it doesn't fit (creative aftermarket alterations aside). The new 745 and 744 have the new blade guard system, but they take a different throat plate.
  5. The only corded saw I ever use are worm drives. I do not know why they say not to use them with cement board, but personally I have many many many times, and have never had an issue. There is definitely a different feel to a worm drive vs. a side winder, but I prefer it. In my opinion, go worm drive, you will never look back.
  6. Glad you like it! I have been impressed with it as well!
  7. Sorry to hear that you were taken advantage of like this! Unfortunately, I have dealt with a few users who have bought different versions of these batteries (one user bought over $6000 in these things, and he was just out the money!) I'm not sure about yours (you can check and let us know if you want) but in all of the fake batteries that I have seen, there have only been two electrical contacts in the stem of the battery, where the DeWALT has three. That has been the easiest way for me to find them.
  8. Not to sound condescending, but you do not have it in hammer mode do you!
  9. Not sure what the issue was. It is still coming, and the term discontinued must have been used loosely. There may have been some supply chain issues or something that delayed the release, but it is coming. (that was a guess, not any official information, as I have heard nothing from corporate on this).
  10. I am assuming that you meant Home Depot? No, DeWALT is not going out of business. DeWALT has far greater market share than any other maker nation wide (about 60 to 65% in cordless for example). The Home Depot situation is a long story that has been explained many times, so I will not get into all of the details here, but the gist of it is that the Home Depot wants DeWALT to sign an exclusive agreement (like the other brands that are sold there) but DeWALT will not do it. Also keep in mind that even though Home Depot is one of the two largest distributors, the far majority of tools sold in the US are sold through smaller local stores, which by and large is where DeWALT really thrives.
  11. I have been using my demo for a few months now, and I am really impressed with it. Keepin mind that I do not do construction professionally anymore, so this is just being used on my house projects (built a new deck, some fence gates, hung some doors, etc.). The runtime is insane. I only charged the battery 1 time while building a 900 square foot deck. The three speed is really nice too, though I was not really working on material delicate enough to really NEED lower torque, I can see how it would be very useful to guys in the field. Overall, is it an awesome tool? Yes. Do you NEED to upgrade your other 20v? Not if you are happy with it. The brushless is the premium option, but the DCF885 is already a completely capable tool.
  12. I was going to ask the same question. What brand of nails?
  13. Well said! It is all about options!
  14. I don't know about pictures, but the brushless Impact is hitting stores now, the metal cutting circ. saw and the impact wrenches are also coming in the next month or two. Launches will be happening fast in the 20v line!
  15. Settle down buddy. It is coming. One of the reasons that DeWALT tools are so good, is that our development process takes longer than other companies. The benefit of waiting a little longer for tools to launch is that the quality is better. The radio charger is coming soon.
  16. While the 8500 technically will work on the dw872, it is not the ideal saw. Don't get me wrong, you have a GREAT saw, it's just that the RPM's are too slow for the diamond wheel to cut quickly, as well as not get gummed up. The dw8500 is made for high rpm abrasive chop saws (3700 rpm range, not the 1700 range if the dw872). Your saw is as good as it gets, but made for a different type of blade.
  17. Look up the dw8500. It is a diamond abrasive wheel.
  18. KILLER set up! Love how you put the spikes in for your abrasives!
  19. The hand truck is metal. And when you compare this to it's actual compitition, it is priced pretty well. There are price point boxes in the line as well, but these are the premium boxes.
  20. You will see the next phase this week I believe. Should be hitting stores soon.
  21. You are referring to the DWM120K? What is the benefit you are looking to gain from de-articulating the band? I wouldn't recomend altering/changing those bearings, as they are a big benifit to the DeWALT. DeWALT uses 8 individual bearings, instead of the standard 4. This helps the whole mechanism last longer.
  22. Thanks jkones, You may be right about misappplying the battery into some application with a very different current draw but I would not expect to have a problem with the battery or the tools. I am unsure if there is any sort of circuit protection in either of the batteries. Lithium batteries in power tools always HAVE to have an electronic component to monitor a number of factors. The electronics are programed for specific batteries, so you need to use the correct batteries with the correct tools. The 20v MAX DeWALT battery has essentially zero electronics, because the 20v MAX tools have the electronics in the trigger of the tool. So if you hook the 20v MAX battery up to something that is not programmed to shut the battery down at the correct discharge amount, it will ruin the battery. The B&D will be significantly less intensive of electronics, but the same idea applies. For you reference on the brand names, B&D is Stanley Black & Decker's consumer brand, while DeWALT is the professional/premium brand; so though both brands are held by the same company, they are VASTLY different quality level tools. Hope this helps!
