  1. The Box with the Plugs is a DS400 that my mate built.. It sits in the very back of his Truck, on the same style of racking as myself and Mr Yellow... It has a retractable lead that pulls out and allows the Box to plug into a local 240v power source.. It then means that either 240v tools or 110v tools can be used.. If need be the box can be removed from the rack and taken closer to where you are working. Some people might think it a bit overkill, but it is essentially the same as a transformer, but can be moved around on the Tough System trolley...
  2. I know 'Mr Yellow' would have seen this on Social Media, but me and a couple of other Dewalt die hard supporters were working a film in East London.. I met these Guys (along with Mr Yellow) at a Dewalt Event @ Silverstone F1 circuit in the UK a couple of years back.. The opportunity came together for us to work, on a project, and inspired by this thread, we decided to empty the Vans for a 'Stack off'... 55 boxes later, and here we are.... Go big, or go Home.... lol...

    Truck

Ha ha ... Yellow Demon none the less... Had to carry out quick repairs on that in January ready to get rewrapped in a New Livery, just before it drove out to Europe... Impressive tool line up in the Front half, and a 'Classroom Style' demo area in the back, complete with 42" plasma.... Tool Trucks don't get much more impressive than this...
  4. I've had some nice comments from other trades Guys about my 'version' of the Tough System Racking... Ive had a fair few guys in the UK contact me through the 'Stanley Tools (UK) Forum', and/or Facebook.. I would think that there are about 25 vans in the UK that I know of, and around 8 of us have formed a Facebook 'Chat' to share other ideas.. The Guys now get on so well that they organise Mountain Bike meets, and even share work amongst themselves.. When the racking is built, it gains you Automatic entry to an 'exclusive' club ... Lol..!!
  5. This is my Solution to a work table... 3 holes drilled in.. 2 for drills, and 1 for Coffee....
  6. Try this place (in the UK) for reasonable Quality cheap blades.. I use them all the time for general construction work.. Tend to have a couple of good quality Dewalt blades for anything 'on show'... You'll appreciate this too Frain20... http://www.saxtonblades.co.uk/dewalt-stanley-worx-hyper-compatible-blades-c83?osCsid=mq7qlgd18iop76luj3uhidmdj3
  7. No worries Dano... Being one of the Official Tool testers here in the UK, I obviously have direct e-mail addresses to key players in relevant departments. I simply e-mailed the Posted photo, and re-posted his response.. Glad to be of service...
  8. This is the 'Official' line for the Product Manager of the Saw... The highlighted area of the tool on the photo below is as you said for a parallel side fence, DEWALT don’t actually make a fence but it will take the Festool parallel side fence that fits their TS 55 So you Guys are exactly right....
  9. The brackets have a 'unique' shape to the arms, which works in conjunction with the 'handles' on the side of the boxes… I use the word 'handles' in quotes, as these are really not strong enough to be used as lifting handles when the biggest of the boxes are loaded up, but are mainly used for securing onto the arms (Either on the trolley system or in a Van rack).. With my limited ability in metal fabrication, I went down the route of purchasing the arms from Dewalt. Might be a little expensive from the outset, but taking into account the 'time and motion' of trialling and maching a 'copy' it is a cheaper option for me. All in all, I have 12 sets of arms in my Van set up, and although people look at it as an expensive route to organising a van, to me it has paid for itself in a) more productivity through better organisation, and customer recommendations based on the attention to detail from my truck.. In the UK we pay about £12 per pair (plus vat tax @ 20%)… The real beauty about these arms is that the boxes can be removed and the arms folded flat to re-gain the width in the van for those occasions when you need to get bigger loads.. This is the link to my set-up.. http://dewaltownersgroup.com/index.php/topic,1307.0.html
  10. I would have to argue that as a No…… I am in the UK, and although you can fit any blade, from any manufacturer onto the bottom of the Dewalt via the 'secondary' blade attachment system, on the 'primary' quick release blade change I am positive that it's only the Dewalt blades that fit.. I am not sure why the US and the UK variants might be different, so I would double check that..
  11. Hi Gman... I got all my carpet and sound proofing from a company in the UK called Classic Accoustics.. As for the last 2 boxes at floor level, the metal frame racking is positioned in such a way that the boxes are only held by a single outer arm, This is because of the height of the inner wheel arch.. It works well, and there is next to no movement with the boxes on the floor, as I have used Industrial safety floor (Non-Slip Vinyl) to cover the ply on the floor.... PM me for further info....

    Tough system

Nice one Dano... Love seeing peoples variations on the Tough Box Van Racking ... Really liking the 'padlocking system' you've taken from the trolley too... Keep the pics coming buddy... As Mr Yellow says, shame that Dewalt don't push this a little further to be honest.. Better for us guys though who have taken the time and effort to construct this for ourselves..
  13. Just echoing what Mr Yellow said... Can't deny having seen it as there is a cheeky photo of me holding one on the Dewalt UK Facebook page.. Shame we can't elaborate just yet... Deffo worth the wait....!!!
  14. There is a competition on the Dewalt UK Facebook page offering a chance to Win a VIP day out for you and your Motorcycle at Silverstone Race-circuit, meet Bradley Smith (Moto GP team rider for Tech 3) and test the new brushless range. Part of the prize (also) is to win £500 worth of Brushless tools 'prior to launch' and take them away with you... This competition is for July 5th.. My guess is that it would be the following month to 6 weeks after that when the official launch would be... Check out their facebook page to find out more....
  15. I would place the skirting flat on the bed of the Saw Table, move the extendable fences out to the maximum position, and set the saw to cut a 45degree 'bevel' cut... The saw should cut around 300mm in this position. I personally only cut skirting in this manner to achieve an external mitre. All internals are a 'Butt and scribe' method'... I also only use the saw in single bevel mode, with the workpiece always being set to the left of the blade... The saw doesn't move, but the workpiece is either cut from the back or the front according to the desired angle (ie Left or Right)..
  16. As a rule of Thumb... it is pretty much obvious which way a 'blade bolt' tightens or un-tightens.. It depends on which side of the saw handle the blade is. Some are on the left, and others are on the right. This then means that the bolt then tightens in the opposite direction to the blade rotation.. ie, if the blade is on the left hand side of the saw (standing from the rear and looking at direction of cut) as per the DCS391 then the blade rotates in a clockwise direction, and therefore the tightening of the blade is in a counter clockwise manner. This means that there is always an 'opposing' force to the bolt, which means that it is constantly trying to be tightened up during normal daily use.. In simpler terms, you loosen the blade in the same direction as the teeth are pointing to cut (assuming some clown hasn't put the blade on reverse)... If the instructions are wrong (can't check as mine are in the bin) then it would indicate that someone at Dewalt has possibly 'cribbed' a previous set of instructions for a saw with the blade on the opposite side of the saw/handle. Hope this helps...
  17. I reckon thats nonsense... I think the truth is that they cannot produce them quick enough for Europe.. They have sold around 3500 units in a couple of months, and they have had 15 returned for small issues.. Sales are booming, and the main issue with the gun is meeting the supply for the demand...
  18. My best guess is possible launch Q3 this year (UK)...
  19. Unless they can get a Radio that kicks Makita's butt with regards to Sound Quality and 'comparible' price (and yes I do understand that Makita doesn't charge batteries) then as far as I am concerned, it might get a cool reception on release.. I am an avid Dewalt user/fan, but quite frankly past Dewalt radio's 'suck' compared to Makita. I'm sorry to say that I have 'modified' a Makita Radio to accept the older 18v plug-in style Dewalt batteries. And believe me, it pains me to admit Makita's superiority in this instance... Sound is great, size is better and radio reception outstrips Dewalt 10 fold... Looking forward to eating my words and past opinions of Dewalt radios...
  20. Dan, I can't see a Multi-tool coming out much before Jan 2014 (9 months) .. as for the second fix nailer (on the new lithium-ion platform) I wouldn't hold your breath... give that at least 18months. They've only just got the new 'First Fix' launched, so the engineering team are now fully focussed onto the second fix (and possible other variants) Dewalt do seem a little slow at getting stuff out there, but what they are bringing out is rocking at the moment...
  21. If it is brushless, more than likely will be on the 18v (Europe) 20v Max (US) new Lithium-ion battery platform..
  22. Hi Dan... Spoke to an 'Ex' Dewalt Product guy the other day about this, and he says that Dewalt used to have worm drive saws for sale in the UK way back. However, due to European Legislation, they are no longer able to sell them in the UK.. The US re-vamped their version a few years back, and he was looking to bring it across form the US for the UK and European markets, but EU rulings got in the way. Apparently even in the US there is a West coast/East coast divide on this (popularity wise).. Also, the blade is on the opposite side of the machine to conventional Saws used in Europe, so some folk would find it strange and weird, and ultimately not purchase.. If you want one, then it's e-bay or a friendly 'pal' visiting the US for you.... obviously only 110volt Hope this helps ...
  23. You can use it with whatever AH battery you want... All you got to remember is that the battery is the 'size of the tank'.. If you put a 3.0ah battery on it you'll probably only get 450 nails per charge (90mm) rather than the 600 stated with the 4.0ah. I believe that there is no differences in shots depending on nail size either.. It produces the same impact force regardless of Nail size...
