  1. Used to use Starrett stuff a lot when I was doing contract work at RTI for DARPA. That was a long time ago and their tools were the best, bar none. As with so many things though, that may no longer be true.
  2. Have used them many times and if you aren't careful you will end up with them between your front and rear tires. I had a bad experience with an oil change once (they destroyed the threads on/in plug/pan) Also had a tire shop break 3 out of five lugs on a drum of my 1965 Plymouth Satellite due to their lack of attention to detail. (the L stamped into the lug should have been a giveaway) Prefer pits for oil changes myself.
  3. Never seen an extractor that looked like a reverse tapered reamer, but it makes sense.
  4. Duplicated post, not sure why. Sorry. And my post was in reference to the Husky 4.6 gallon air compressors from page 21. Not sure what is going on.
  5. Holy smokes! What a deal. Let us know how they work out/hold up.
  6. Almost forgot. What is this being used for if you are allowed to say.
  7. Glad to see some of your great work is not for one time use.
  8. Never used one, so my question is: can you make angle cuts with it? Looks like it only works for straight across (If clamped down anyway) cuts.
  9. Looks brand new! Nice save.
  10. If all your clients change their mind after the fact, you must be swamped with work. Good on you. Second door looks great too by the way.
  11. Welcome. My brother drives heavy trucks and semis for the Army on the Crane naval base in Indiana. (Yes, Army on a Navy base) It is basically an ammo dump and no where near an ocean. They refurbish, destroy, or import/export munitions as necessary. He has to jump through all kinds of hooks to keep his commercial license and hazmat current. Take care out there.
  12. khariV raises a good question. (looks good by the way) Was there some reason a generic cheapo couldn't be used? Seems like a lot of labor for a tosser.

    Burned

Seems unlikely that UPS would go to the trouble of patching it over with tape. I have gotten things shipped poorly before. No excuse except too cheap to do it right. Glad they are sending another without a lot of grief. Hope #2 arrives in better shape.
  14. I saw this a while back. It is an interesting device and If I was making something large it would probably be cheaper than a CNC router table. most of what I do could be handled by a small machine like the CNC Piranha FX. (~$1600.00) The Shaper hand held is currently ~1700.00, going soon to ~$2100.00. The Piranha does require that you have a computer, but obviously we all do in the forum.
  15. Go with your heart, but obviously the press would give you a capability you currently don't have. Depending on how much you despise the blaster, that might be the way to go for the sake of your sanity since you use it more than you would a press.
  16. Almost as bad as Comp56, but have had (all dead now) a couple of friends I would loan anything to. I also have some less than top notch tools I will lend to some people. If they want more than that, they have to buy their own. Used to have a more generous policy, but after having some tools not returned or returned damaged and/or dirty, I reconsidered in self defense.
  17. Checked out SuccessWare. It certainly looks way more advanced than QuickBooks, but for just me, QB was enough.
  18. Haven't used any recently, but used to use Quickbooks. https://search2.quickbooks.com/get-quickbooks/?cid=ppc_g_Exact_QBDT_US_B_QuickBooks_Exact_Tier1_G_S_quickbooks_txt&cvosrc=ppc.google.quickbooks&matchtype=e&adposition=1t1&creative=113707134008&content=&cvo_search=1&mobile=&X1ID=~uk~&gclid=CPD0rdrSxNICFVOBswodrsACBw&s_kwcid=AL!2419!3!113707134008!e!!g!!quickbooks&ef_id=WL7JUAAABJyqpBGB:20170307145304:s
  19. Can be a grumpy and definitely an old man. I do not care for "smart" anything, except people. Use a flip cell phone if I carry one at all and use a separate camera when I need one. I have been using and repairing computers since I used an old teletype terminal and paper tape to interface (no monitor, print only) with a GE235 mainframe in high school, so it isn't that I don't understand technology. I just don't need or want most of it. I find a lot of it very intrusive and am old enough to remember privacy. Good luck to those who like it though. GE.235.1964.102646091.pdf
  20. Very craftsman. Simple, but well executed. Very nice!
  21. First, let me compliment you on the beautiful work! Second, I have never crossed paths with any Adirondack chair that I found comfortable. Hard to get out of and just generally unpleasant to sit in. Hope you enjoy them though.
  22. Remington 870 is a very effective deterrent, but only if you never leave.
  23. Just curious, how long did it take to sand? I would be loathe to try it without a sandblaster. Looks good! How well does the Plow/ATV combo work?
