  1. Good Day Crew!

I just read a post about a new DeWalt 40v chainsaw.  I wonder how well it will perform, has anybody here tried other battery powered chainsaws? If so, how well do they work?  I'm in the market for a new chainsaw, and I will be buying some of the 40v DeWalt outdoor equipment for next season.

  2. Pretty cool WigWag. Are you into scale model building too?

That is correct, also model railroading, in fact the majority of videos on my YouTube channel (Same name has my name here) are model building related. I use to put up woodworking videos also, but I took them down due to the "safety Patrol" constantly harassing me.  I am in the process of doing a channel "Reboot" has I decided that I am going to ignore the idiots and start posting my woodworking videos again.

The model railroad in my videos has been dismantled, has it was just used to try out different techniques.  Once the boys move out, I am turning their bedrooms into a massive layout.

  3. That's pretty awesome man. My kids are still at the age where they think I'm the coolest guy ever. I sure am not looking forward to the day that dad turns into the guy that is embarrassing and doesn't know anything. If I am in the garage they are right there with me...generally trying to build something with the tools they can sneak out of the bottom drawers on my tool cabinet.

Yeah, that point in time kinda sucks, but then a few years later, they are right back with you.  I went through that with my boy.

  4. Good Day Crew!

Now that my Grandson is living in town again, "Pappy" has been busy making some toys for him.  He just turned 3 this year, its been a lot of fun has he is my first Grandchild.  This is the Clown Drop Pattern from Steve Good.  Still have to add some colorful paint, and make the clown.

  5. Good Day Crew!

I need to get a 23 gauge pin nailer for the workshop, unfortunately DeWalt does not sell one LOL.  So I was looking at the Porter-Cable below, and was wondering if any of the crew has tried this model, OR what 23 gauge pin nailer with the same specs has this one that uses 5/8 in. to 1-3/8 in 23-gauge fasteners would you recommend.

  6. Sorry, I might be too young, but what do you mean by bootlegs? Are these music concerts that are recorded by fans in the audience, or unauthorized copies of official recordings? Are they video or just audio?

Do you have any HF transceivers sitting around collecting dust? I'm a general class but I haven't found a decent starter HF rig, they seem to be $500 for an entry level model, new or used.

Yes, they are live recordings, mostly audio, but I do have a ton of videos also.  They are not copies of official recordings, but are live recoding of their concert usually done by a person in the audience. These recoding are traded for other recordings, although some people try to sell them which is a Big No-No.  A lot of bands don't mind this practice, and some bands actually encourage it.  On the other hand, a lot of bands actually offer recordings of the concert though their website, that are recorded from the soundboard.  The majority of shows I have, are from bands that are no longer with us, or are no longer playing live shows.

I am also a Ham Radio Operator,  General Class.  I don't have any transceivers at this time, I had to sell my rig when the wife lost her job.  I plan on getting a new rig very soon though.  Let me know if you want to chat on Echolink sometime.

  7. I "collect" bootlegs, had over 4,000 shows on cassette, unfortunately they didn't stand the test of time.  However, I have got most of my collection back via some private trading forums. There is something about live music, that can not be captured in the studio.  I also collect old radio scanners, and shortwave receivers, but they are packed up at the moment and I have not bought any new stuff in a few years.  My latest addiction is railroad, model railroad and plastic scale models, although I been collecting that stuff since I was a kid.  I switch between different  hobby collecting,

  8. What phone are you using?  The reason I ask is, there are various versions of Bluetooth and it may not be compatible. Sometimes deleting the bluetooth profile on the phone, and re-pair it might help.  Once I know what phone you have, I might have a better solution for you.

  9. While not the "best" have a look at what I posted in the hardware thread, it's a great starter smoker/grill.  If you want the "Best" how much are you willing to spend? How much meat do you want to grill/smoke? If I know that, I can hook you up with some options.  I been smoking for many years, although mostly backyard stuff, I did spend about 10 years helping a buddy with his catering business.

  10. PURE AWESOME!  I been wanting to make a backyard forge for sometime now.  I been watching a ton of videos, but your pictures are the best I have seen thus far.  I too, would love to cast some miniatures, and also make some knives. Thank You for sharing your adventures with the crew.

  11. Absolutely  Stunning! Me being a woodworker, me least favorite thing to do is the finishing, it's like one has to be a mad scientist to figure it all out LOL.  I do love the sanding process thought. however, I know the majority of woodworkers absolutely hate it lol. I have a ton of books and articles on doing finishes, there are so many options.

  12. Well, while not project related I spent the day with my 3 year old grandson.  But it had me thinking, of all the cool projects I will be making for him.  Starting with a custom step stool, so he can wash his hands in the sink.  I already made him a cool name plaque, that looks like a train.  Also made him a bunch of wooden cars and trucks to play with. I forgot how much fun it is to have a "little buddy" to hang out with.

  13. We had the same can of that 3in1 oil in our family for over 50 years, and far has I know it's still at the parents house.  I recently been looking for some, and it turns out you can still get it in the tin can for $10.  Although the plastic bottle is only $3, I am going to the tin can for my house, and in 50 years, my kids will still have it LOL.
