  1. I've used fishing line and WD-40 in the past which has worked great for me. I do get a kick out of the guys that remove the badges with alignment holes and leave the holes. I'd rather have a badge than a group of random holes.
  2. My neighbor and I have a running joke about Mike Holmes. Basically if your going to get a Holmes inspection, you might as well bring in the bulldozers. Your certainly correct about the codes, that's why we have grandfathered in laws. Whenever I do upgrade something on my house I do always bring it up to today's code, to the best of my ability. There are certain areas where it is just too impractical, like I can not reconstruct the structure of the house.
  3. Heck of a deal, that buyers remorse cracks me up but I know where you are coming from. Presently I have two drill and an impact driver, so I wouldn't feel to bad about picking another one up. Though if I got to four or five of each, I'd feel like I was just wasting money.
  4. I honestly believe that with all of these guys and gals who are doing the YouTube channels and have an audience, if they have a a live feed where they can ask questions or just talk to the person on occasion it adds a lot. That's something that you can't really do with a lot of your television shows. YouTube channels can truly be in touch with their audience and know exactly what it is that their fans want to see and are not interested in seeing. At the same time I think they still need to take a lot of risk to stay relevant. I brought up in another thread Woodstockva from Real Tool Reviews, I think he really stepped out of the box when he reviewed a Black & Decker 3/8" drill. To me that's fantastic because it opens his channel up to an all new audience. Not everyone either can afford or is willing to spend the money on DeWalt, Milwaukee, Makita, etc. Some people just want to know how the B&D, Stanely, Skil, etc. products are. When you can bring into your community another sect of society and make them feel at home that goes along way to your long term success.
  5. Not really like Holmes on Holmes because this show they spend a lot of time basically finding the contractor and giving him hell. I think Holmes does a better job of actually showing what the contractor did wrong and what they need to do to correct it. SpikeTV
  6. I have only caught the periscope feed once and really enjoyed watching. I hope to catch it again soon. It would be nice if there was a regular, like weekly or bi weekly set time and date where Dan might do a live feed. Even if it was just like a Q&A kind of thing. Obviously that is something that they would have to fit into their schedule and decide if it was really worth it or not. I will say though I think it is pretty amazing where we are today with the Google+ and Periscope live feeds.
  7. I love the benches, I am feeling pretty inspired by them. I am thinking I might have to build something similar for my backyard.
  8. I would probably use it to make as many commonly used jigs I could think of that I would need while woodworking. It'd be amazing to have a machine that was precise where you know your jig as dead nuts.
  9. Have any of you guys seen this show Catch a Contractor, it is hosted by Adam Carolla and Skip Bedell. The premise of the show is they track down contractors who have typically abandoned jobs and left home owners stranded. I had never heard of this show until flipping through the channels last night and came across it. I don't really know what to make of it, other then typical reality show. While I do like the basic premise of the show, I think there is a bit too much yelling and bs that comes with the show. I more of less like the idea of heres the scam artist contractor, here is the family that was taken for a ride and here are the issues we found with the house. I would like to see 90% of the bs go away and show more of how they fixed the house.
  10. Wow, that is impressive, I had no idea that Bosch was offering that tool. I am going to have to consider it when I do purchase my cordless impact wrenches.
  11. Graves, I would highly recommend checking Lowes.com & Amazon for their written reviews on this tool. Honestly, your probably going to have a hard time finding someone doing a Youtube video review of a tool like a particular Skil Circular Saw. It's a shame because it's a really popular item that a lot of people would probably like to see a proper review done on. At the same time though, it's not the big new Team Black or Team Red tool that's offering all these amazing options and going to spit out a 100,000 views in a month. I am really happy that our friend Woodstockva from Real Tool Reviews has been doing some reviews of more DIY/Homeowner tools. I really think he deserves a lot of recognition for taking note that there is a segment there that isn't being served fully.
  12. Flapper wheels are awesome for sanding metal to a nice finish and sharpening an edge up really nice. If you have never used one in the past, you will be highly impressed with the finished product. Thanks for not using that masonry wheel on steel, I have a feeling it might do bad things to you in the process. People really irk me when it comes to using angle grinders, especially at home. I used one at work everyday for years and saw some really bad accidents with them. Most would have been avoided had the person verified the disc RPM ratings to the grinders, made sure they were using the correct type of disc and used both hands. Not to mention wearing the proper PPE and controlling / containing where your sparks are going.
  13. I use my DeWalt Impact Driver all the time with an adapter when working on cars. I am going to get an 20V DeWalt Impact Wrench soon though, both 3/8" and 1/2". I do quite a bit of automotive work on the side, so it saves me quite a bit of time.
  14. Awesome, I love getting the kids involved. I am going to have to ask my wife for it but I know we have a picture somewhere of my nephew covered in grease at like 4 years old because he wanted to help me work on my truck.
  15. Williams makes good tools, you will not be disappointed at all. I really like the Wright Tools Wrightgrip wrench that were reviewed on RealToolReviews by Woodstockva. I may be wrong on this, but if I remember correctly a lot of times when Snap On comes out with a new design on a tool that previous design will still be sold as a Williams.

Mine is self explanatory, guess I'm with Eric on that, LOL
  17. So nice here today, it was in the 80's and rained, humid though. It's been in the mid 90's to low 100's for about a month now and it seems like everyday the dew point and humidity are high. Just walking around outside has been super nasty.
  18. Whenever I get a side job, I always get these people.
  19. Sorry to keep adding posts but I just found an article you guys might like to read from 1992. Black & Decker hopes DeWalt tools' reputation will conjure new business
  20. Porter-Cable (Wiki) consolidated with Delta (Wiki) in the year 2000 and then purchased by SB&D in 2004. SB&D in 2011 sold Delta off to a company in Taiwan. Porter-Cable was a really good brand that was purchased by SB&D who already had DeWalt. Basically they bought out one of their biggest competitors.
  21. I'm sure your 2604 would work without a problem. I had to change out the batteries a couple times, but you know you use one at a time so you keep the charger going while your using one.
  22. I have cast iron pipe wrenches, they work great. From what I understand Ridgid is the go to company when it comes to pipe wrenches, supposed to be second to none. The Milwaukee pipe wrench that's coming out this year looks pretty darn cool. I think I am going to get one when it does hit the shelf. It does come out the 1st quarter of 2016 according to the Milwaukee rep interviewed by TIA. https://youtu.be/LCFHJ8i6J00
  23. When I was doing my trade on a daily basis I made specific kits for different types of jobs I would do. Like if I had a job where all I was going to do is go lay out a foundation or some structure, I had a bag dedicated to just lay out tools. If I was going to just turn nuts and bolts, had a bag specific to that. I had 4 or 5 different bags in my tool box where I could just go grab the bag and head to work without having to fumble before every job putting together the tools I am going to need. I do keep a box in my wifes truck with a basic set of sockets screw drivers, pliers, etc. just to make sure we have it in an emergency on the road.
  24. I carry a Fastback II as my daily knife, using Milwaukee general use blades. I have to say it's the best utility knife with replaceable blades that I have ever owned. I really love the build quality and the way it feels in my hand, I think a lot of the similar Husky's and Kobalt's have sharp edges and are just not as comfortable. The wired belt clip is amazingly awesome, you don't have to worry about it behind out of shape and still slides in and out of position with ease. Now I have never attempted to open a paint can with it, didn't even know that it was able to do that. I've also never tried to use it as a wire stripper.
