  1. I see your point as there are always going to be tools we wish certain manufacturers would make. But I haven't seen a Dewalt panel saw to match Milwaukee's. Track saws hold no interest for me. I can cut a fairly straight line freehand and if I need it perfectly straight I use a table saw or clamp (or screw) a 4' T-square as a guide. Not saying track saws aren't great, just not great for me.
  2. Although not on the horizon just yet, Milwaukee may have a cordless compressor out before too long. Ridgid has made one that can use one or two batteries, is one gallon and has a max psi of 125. Fingers crossed......
  3. I'll second this. I mainly use it for cleaning sheetrock dust from baseboards after drilling holes and cleaning door tracks of elevators where I work. Small enough to fit in my tool bag when needed, quiet enough to not be a total nuisance. A little weak though. I'm at my local HD at least three times a week and on one hand I wish the HD by me had tool deals like @JimboS1icefinds, on the other I would probably be broke. Still nice to see the deals at least.
  4. I spent all the time I could outside building forts in the woods across the street, riding my bike with friends, catching anything that moved. When I was inside I was all about Legos and taking everything apart then putting it back together. About 1hr on Saturday morning was the only tv I watched, too busy otherwise. Don't know if my toys made me or if I gravitated to things I was naturally inclined to do. Good question though.
  5. Cart looks great. If it were mine I would paint the pegboard black. More importantly though it (I'm assuming) works for you. It's great when you can have both but if not I will normally choose function over form.
  6. I really like how many items are on casters. Looks like a great work area, clean and organized. Good job.
  7. Being here this morning and starting a thread you found something to do for a little bit. @Foneguysuggested something I have done on occasion. While in my shop I also sometimes clean up a little or do some routine/preventive maintenance on my tools. Maybe put on headphones and watch YouTube, no shortage of things to watch there.....
  8. I am soooo buying this. Working in apartments I use a toilet auger weekly. Will be interesting to see how it breaks down for cleaning and cable replacement. I keep my current auger in a yard waste bag because it doesn't easily disassemble for cleaning and tends to stink. The Ridgid ones last me about a year.
  9. Great idea! I prefer to keep my tools put away due to the amount of dust (wood and paint) in my shop. Right now I have my sanders in a deep file cabinet drawer and it's a pain. Love your idea.
  10. I wonder if this will pair with an app that does layout. I've seen flooring estimators that use a Bosch unit that connects via Bluetooth to an ipad and the app quickly makes (with a little help) a diagram of the interior of the house. I could see where this would be useful to me in estimating amount of baseboard, crown molding or for a kitchen layout.
  11. That's a good little vacuum. Mine has seen a lot of use for three years and is still chugging along. It has been $99 for as long as I can remember so $25 off isn't too bad.
  12. Although I'm not invested in Dewalt, what I see in your pictures makes me happy. Giving your tools a dedicated place in your home, arranging them nicely for pictures and starting a thread to show them tells me you're glad (maybe proud) to have them. Treat them well and they should do the same for you. Good job...
  13. This style has always worked best for me. I tended to abuse the top and have also, like you, just changed the plywood. Mine did have 2 locking casters though. No eye candy or anything fancy but no worries of damaging it either. I miss it.
  14. I'm curious about this as well. I contacted Milwaukee several times about the M18 8.5" miter saw and the M18 barrel grip jig saw (still not available here) well over a year ago and got no real response. I guess it's easy for me to say: "well just swap out the 8.5" blade for a 7.25"" but it may not be that easy. But the jig saw? Why not sell it here?
  15. Haven't tried many German hand tools but there are several American made hand tools I think are great. I don't turn wrenches so my favorite American brands are more like Estwing, Klein, Lenox, and (some) Channellock. You're right though it's tough to find an all American made cordless power tool, much less an entire line. I can't name one.
  16. Cool, thanks! Justification just became a whole lot easier.
  17. I've been looking at the several different M12 cameras and can't justify buying one....yet. I just haven't come across a situation where I needed it. Still trying though.
  18. Modes 2 and 3 are all I really need. Hanging doors, sheetrock, cabinets, installing sub flooring (under 600sqft), it does great for me.
  19. M18 Fuel Sawzall. Cut down, limbed, and sectioned a decent (20') sized pine tree with a couple 12" pruning blades with it just to see if it could handle it. Took a few batteries but never quit. For me it's one of the more versatile tools.
  20. Have you ever seen something that was so simple yet ingenious that you wondered why you never thought of it? This is one of those things for me. Good job my man, good job.
  21. Bluetooth tools with small speakers so when I open the app and pull the trigger on my drill or circ. saw it can play "You Spin Me Round" by Dead or Alive or when I turn on the radius light it can play "Hit the Lights" by Metallica for a few seconds. Seriously though, I wouldn't mind seeing an anniversary edition of cordless tools that had a retro looking design with aluminum housings and a riveted metal id plate. Black and Decker did this in the 90's with a cordless drill and I used the heck out of it.
  22. Born in Fort Worth and moved a lot due to being an Air Force brat. Lived in: Germany, Utah, California, Alaska, Texas (mainly), and have now lived in Washington near Seattle for about 10yrs. Interesting thing though, I've lost my Texas accent but not my Texas pride.
  23. This is one of the reasons I went with Milwaukee when upgrading from the C3 starter set I had years ago. I have never had to use the warranty but from what I've learned from coworkers and read on forums, the Milwaukee warranty is easier to use than most. At the end of the day though if you're not happy with something not warranty related a better warranty makes little difference. I hope you continue to be happy with your new Dewalt tools, may they treat you well.
