  1. I bought them to test with my Bosch sanders. I also got a pad protector. According to F.O.G. they work on Festool sanders too.
  2. PS: no good idea on not stabbing yourself Mine stays with a 1000sf area so goes on the bench when not in use.
  3. Well the marking gauge makes a line no different than your marking knife. I use a marking knife when my gauge wont reach. The nice thing about the gauge is the accuracy of centering on the end of a board. Mark one side then from other until you have a centered line and make your mark. That and severing grain to reduce tear out. I have a nice brass wheel type cutter also but am not happy with it after watching a Rob Cosman video because I have a screw that protrudes from the end. For Marking its not a big deal but after watching the video I realized you could use a marking gauge to clean up the corner of a dado or rabbet or even as a router plane. I will dig up video if you are interested.
  4. Yea I have their catalog in my nightstand. LOL I have a few Veritas things from Lee Valley and they are very nice. I think the Lie Nielsen product is slightly nicer in the stuff that probably doesn't matter category so not the best bang for your buck. But I enjoy buying something that will last several generations and know it was hand built in Maine. I would also like to buy some stuff from Rob Cosman in Canada. If I did not have a nice set of Robert Sorby bench chisels I would buy Robs IBC chisels. I might try a single chisel anyway. I enjoy watching Robs videos. His technique and style does not match mine because I prefer to use more power tools but have learned a lot from him.
  5. If it was mine I would do something lighter. I think the dark grey would just look industrial grey. @BMack37 car pictures would look great. Great job, by the way. I love old stuff like this.
  6. Trevor I have only used these one time and the one I used worked just fine. So can't say I have used them enough to give them much of a review.
  7. Thought I would share a picture of another hobby. Amateur radio. Been doing it over 30 years. I dont use towers or anything but have plenty of room to string up wires.
  8. Well a miter saw takes a lot of horizontal space and then you pile stuff on it. So I figure it takes less time to clip on two rails than clean off one. LOL Fastcap has some nice miter setups. If I did more stuff outside I would have one on wheels. BTW, the Ridgid belt sander/oscillating sander is on the same slide setup. So it comes out too.
  9. I cut all my boards short and then glue them together to make them long. Easier on the back The miter is on a slide and pulls out and locks. I have fastcap rails that clip onto FastCap Kapex adapters on the saw. On outbound ends I have bench mount adapters. I dont put rails on that often as it planes with the bench its mounted on. But when I need them, it takes about 60 seconds to install rails. They are setup with laser and no adjustment needed.
  10. The ones I bought at sears looked like this. Craftsman brand.
  11. Is anyone using this brand of sanding disc? (Mirka Abranet). I have had it a couple days but have not tested it yet. Supposed to be good stuff with better dust control because the dust particles suck directly through the sanding disc and does not need to use the holes.
  12. That would not be my choice in the winter months. You would need makeup air for that CFM you were blowing outside and although guys do it, I would not want the heat loss.
  13. LOL, you are trying to get me in trouble.
  14. Well I will save it for something like this which I hope is in the near future. https://www.oneida-air.com/inventoryD.asp?item_no=XGK030105H&CatId={7F6C8978-92E8-4902-9A37-D8A254EDF4FC}
  15. @Jronman these Festool dust extractors have plenty power for what I am using them for. As a matter of fact they have variable speed and you have to turn them down for sanding or the pad suctions to the surface of what you are working on. I mounted it to wall and cut down one of my Festool hoses (made me cringe). So when the new fittings get here I can finish it up. Picture below just has the hose to miter saw stuck in there to check fit.
  16. Thanks guys. Jim, what kind of pictures are you looking for? Finished it today. Probably put a coat of wipe on poly on it to protect it. I was going to find 2" OD tube of some sort to slide the hose over on the bottom but got thinking on the CT vac it goes inside. So I just replaced my bottom piece with a thicker chunk of stock and drilled two larger holes in it and the hose slides right in. Added wood handles on the ends of the UHMW slide and trimmed the slide so pushing the slide all the way in aligns the blast gate hole, either way you push So waiting on hose now.
  17. Well if I dont duct it, I wont use it. One thing I have learned about myself is if everything is not setup and easy to use, I dont use it. Its a fault so I am learning to put the effort in up front to get a shop the way I need it. I have said this many times before... I will gnaw through a board with a pair of pliers before I will get get a miter saw off the shelf and set it up and plug it in. I have also learned if I dont visibly display tools I eventually forget I have them. So I either end of with 3 of the same tool (after buying two more) or I do a project and then remember I actually have a widget made for doing that. Since you have a dust extractor it wont be as bad for you to move around depending on your layout. The CT will take care of miter saw, sanders, domino, etc. I dont even like to swap hoses on the CT which is why I built the diverter/blast gate yesterday. Good chance you have more patience than I do.
  18. On my list of things to do is a totally piped up system with HEPA filter. Just such a big project running duct and dodging a dozen 8' light fixtures. So keep putting it off. Bags that size will be nice for basement. Would suck to deal with a 35 gallon container! So are you going to move it around between tools or have plans to run piping?
  19. I have a pretty complete set of Milwaukee M18 stuff from drills to flashlights to portaband and a few Bosch cordless tools as well. Bigger has always been better with me. But last year I bought a tool only right angle 12 volt Milwaukee drill since I had batteries and chargers for my Milwaukee jackets. I liked it so much I bought this little bad boy. When running screws in wood projects the M18 impact is just too much and the drill is too bulky. This thing is just right. I need to look at more 12 volt stuff.
  20. I would think it will work well. The inside is very smooth so should not have any restriction.
  21. I have no idea yet. I am ordering another hose from Bob Marino Tools and a couple replacement ends so I can cut the hose in half and use the replacement ends to make two hoses. So will be next week before I have the hose.
  22. Very nice Chris, My bench work-over is going to have limited space for planes. So hope to NOT expand behind this. I have no intent of doing the grunt work with hand tools so should be fine.
  23. I need to force myself to use it more. Because that's the bad stuff you need to get out of the air. I bought the powermatic but would not recommend it over a Jet or grizzly to anyone. The remote is nice but the main unit is not Powermatic table saw quality.
