Kupe
I've been comparing benchtop planers lately and read some things that suggest the DeWalt DW735 had some issues with sprockets that kept breaking. Does anyone know if DeWalt fixed this issue with the 735? ...or do you have any feedback on this and/or Model DW734 you can share? Any info would be greatly appreciated. kanxrus
In my humble opinion, the DW735 is hand's down the best bench-top planer on the market. I have not heard any buzz out of the sprocket in a long time. Most likely a type 1 issue. It is however a wearable part, and less than $4 if my memory serves me correct. I would purchase the planer with no regrets. Depending on who you buy it from I believe this deal is still going on. http://www.tools-plus.com/dewalt-dw735x.html
Kupe
OK, good to hear your take on this. Indeed the info I was able to find was several years old, so I was hoping any issues were resolved. It certainly is the beefiest benchtop unit I've seen. Thanks for the feedback! kjones
I have had the planer for years (since long before I worked for DeWALT), I have put countless board feet through it, and have not had a hiccup. I say definately buy it, and you will not regret it! It is without a doubt the best portable planer on the market.
