The Sun Joe will handle the largest diameter branches though its not much in reality a 1/4 inch. I have two Sun Joe products so I'm comfortable with the brand. I have an electric rototiller and lawn thatcher. Tools you don't use often.

I've got an older (10+ years) craftsman 5hp chipper/shredder that works good. It has a side for leaf mulching and another input for larger branches. It's insanely loud, but it does the job. You can find them on craigslist for $100-$200. Branches with a lot of bends need to be cut short or they won't fit down the chute.
