regopit
This could be yours for just $1,299.00. It will save your fingers or you could just be smart and careful and save $1,200.
DR99
Yea, I was going to do a little write up on TIA about the new saw. I love the idea, but I think the way the guy when around using the legal system to enforce his patent was kinda crazy. He wanted to ban saws that didn't sell his system. Or you could get a track saw besides using a dado is there anything a track saw can't do over a table saw for most people?
chadlanthier
Yep most of the time it's just a moment of not paying attention.not worth 1200. All though might not be saying that when missing a few digits.
madman_us
build a push stick from scrap wood and save 1200 bucks.also use your eyes when using a table saw to watch your fingers

madman_us
I use my 2nd table saw for dados.Sniped a cheap one on craigslist just for that application. Just takes to much time to change the blades all the time.Im looking for a radial arm saw for dados but people are crazy what they want for used ones
DR99
I think they stopped making them because they had too many safety issues, and Sears was paying money for you to destroy you old craftsman used one. The other thing is the Mitersaw took the place of a radial arm for most people. Even though you could do more with a radial arm saw. I think you could get a couple 150 to 200 dollars if you sent the motor in to sears as part of the recall. So people would cash in on the old saw and buy something else than get the retrofit safety kit on craftsman radial arm saws.
DR99
It looks like they don't have parts anymore and it's only $100 dollars. Plus you can't legally sell an item that's been recalled.http://www.radialarmsawrecall.com/default.aspx
RickyMcGrath
$1200 initially then $69 for a new brake and $50+ for a new blade each time someone trips it. Not worth it to me. Been using table saws since I was 10 years old. Only accidebt was in shop class when I was 13, had the stock kick back and smack me in the groin. Sawstop wouldn't have helped. madman_us
safety will trigger with moist lumber too....so make sure your lumber is dry or have a certain % - otherwise your project can get expensive
Conductor562
That Sawstop guy being such an asshole really turned me off to the whole technology……..fuck that guy!

madman_us
I didn't hear the story - what is it all about?
Conductor562
I didn't hear the story - what is it all about? He lobbied and whined for months and months trying to get various governments to require all table saws to be Sawstop equipped which would have drove the price of every table saw on the market to skyrocket.
RickyMcGrath
The Gripper by Microjig is a much safer and cheaper alternative. http://www.microjig.com
DR99
He lobbied and whined for months and months trying to get various governments to require all table saws to be Sawstop equipped which would have drove the price of every table saw on the market to skyrocket. He though he had a killer app innovation on table sawes, but it was too expensive to make and license so all the companies that made table saws passed on the offer. I also heard but it could be bs if they did add it to their new saws it could increase their liability in lawsuits because whey didn't they have it sooner. Talk about Saw Stop pops up a few times about legal things.
regopit
Half the price and a better saw
madman_us
that guy is just crazy. just because he invented something new doesn't mean that every saw has to have it.agreed rego would be nice to see a cabinet table saw from bosch
Conductor562
At twice the price of a better saw like the Bosch 4100, the Sawstop will never take off. The dude created a good thing, but his obvious greed and desire to shove it up everyone's ass just pisses me off.
DR99
If it was like $100-150 more per saw. I think I would eat the cost what he wants is just freaking crazy, but his prices are high because he can't get the volume to bring the price down $1,300 on a saw from pictures that looks cheap I'm sorry it does is just way too much. Plus like I mentioned before track saws do most of the heavy table saw work now. They are just not marketed well at all. No in store displays or anything thing that. to explain the what its about. RickyMcGrath
I think the saw stop creates a massive liability on its own. What if it doesn't do its job just once?
Frain20
Could probably do with one of those before I lose another finger, Ild agree tho it's a steep price IMO.. Saying that you have to pay for your healthcare in the states...what's the going rate for sewing a couple of fingers on? Haha
DR99
I wouldn't want to know but technically a hospital has to treat you in an emergency situation. I don't know how far they would go if you didn't have insurance though they might leave you with a stump .
