mtnkid85
Maybe they will have battery charging times and days passed from first charge as Milwaukee have. Not sure what you mean with that? Do you mean like a life meter/odometer of the battery? I don't think Makita is adding any electronics capable of that to these new batteries. dwain
No chance. They've somehow managed to make even the LED indicator batteries look ... homebrand.
ChrisK
Hahahaha Dwain. Funny stuff dude. Still, four bars is pretty sweet. Gives you a more accurate look at what's left.
dwain
I am glad they they went with 4 LEDs.

kornomaniac
The American Makita website had just added a new small compact brushes drill with compact batteries with indicator. And a new brushes impact with the compact batteries with indicator.

Turner85
Just done an eBay search and it seems bishoptools now stock these. So they are starting to hit the market. I'm desperate now, any European update anyone?
M80
My new batteries came in the mail today. Two 5.0ah batteries with LED indicators. They came out of the package charged with 2 out of four bars.

M80
does Makita have anything on the tool or is this the first Makita battery to have indicators? A lot of the newer tools have indicators on the tool. The batteries with the indicators on them are new and are just starting to hit the marketplace. I wonder if Makita will try to develop something Bluetooth next like Dewalt and Milwaukee have.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
M80
I wonder if Makita will try to develop something Bluetooth next like Dewalt and Milwaukee have. At the Makita 100th anniversary event, the director of Makita indicated that they will.

NERemodeling
Now I just need some batteries to die so I can get new ones. I've got a mix of 15. 3 and 4ah so not much need for more. One of my oldest packs is from '09 or '10 and still going strong so I don't imagine they will all start dying anytime soon.. Rats!
ChrisK
I'd like to say mine have gotten a ton of use but I have 3 4.0s and they power my Makita chainsaw, jigsaw and grinder like absolutely champs. I don't see buying these things to replace mine right away. I simply can justify it

jeffmcmillan
Remember to charge the batteries first so there's more energy to release. Discharged batteries just smoke and smell terrible.
Andrull
Or even better, finish the normal charging with a deluxe overcharge.
