Not kidding- a few years back a tree fell in his mother's property, and he took home a large cross section of pin oak. Thing weighs about 150lbs and is about 3' in diameter- do you guys have any ideas for it? The only criteria is that it needs to use the whole piece and it needs to be done before I graduate (I'm a freshman). I was thinking something like Jimmy Diresta's vampire spike table, what do you guys think?

Live edge table with wrought iron spindle legs. Or bookend it and make an end table. Reduce the width of the split (will have some waste) add some mortise and tenons and make a nice breakfast knock table with live edge. Free floating book shelves with the live edge. That's a beautiful slab, I'll be glad to take it ;)
