JimboS1ice
Welcome to the forum, try ereplacement parts, they usually have just about everything. http://www.ereplacementparts.com
Millerzconstruction
It may just be there to help dampen the vibration of the shaft moving. You may not need it? I'd look it up and see if it's something that you need. If not I'd just cut it off and keep cutting. Millerz

ChrisK
Welcome to the forum Bem. I'd try Milwaukees site too. They have breakdowns of their tools so you can determine what the issue is.

BMack37
According to this, if one of these is your model it looks to be assembled incorrectly. http://www.ereplacementparts.com/article/1572/How_to_Change_the_Milwaukee_Sawzall_QUIKLOK_Blade_Clamp_Assembly_.html I'd go take a look at my sawzall but I've been laid up all week and can't walk to the garage. ben58
I appreciate all the replies. The saw seems to opperate perfectly. I bought it on ebay for 100 bucks shipped and the unit looks like new. Ive looked at the exploded diagram and nothing is listed which looks like the spring on the shaft. Bmack, my blade locking mechanism is working perfect, with spring tension, and this spring im asking about is too large to fit inside the lock...so I dont think it has anything to do with the blade lock assembled incorrectly. Im just gonna cut it off and run it.

The spring looks more like a spring that goes inside a drill for the clutch.
rocket1420
That looks more like a retaining ring than a spring. If you've ever taken apart a roto head ratchet, you know what I mean. It is also used on the M12 Fuel hackzall to hold the quick change chuck onto the shaft.
Millerzconstruction
It really doesnt look like anything that goes there. Maybe it's something that some body eles was cutting off and some how magically rapped around the shaft. Millerz
Millerzconstruction
Cary stuff like that happens to me. Millerz
Kato
It's not a spring, it's a retaining ring, a spiral retaining ring to be specific. If it's in there it's there for a reason. If you have a model number check ReplacementParts, you should be able to find it no problem.
Kato
Sorry Jimbo, I just noticed you already linked to the same site as I did. I should pay more attention to things sometimes.
NicholasShetley
That definitely isn't a spring. It is a retaining ring. That style is referred to as a spiro-lock. They are a huge pain to install. They are commonly used on aftermarket pistons and wrist pins in an engine. You can try and reinstall it but if it is bent much at all odds are it won't work. If the blade change mechanism works fine I would just take it off.

Kato
I didn't think it was a competition, but since it seems to be, let's try something a little harder... Seriously though, it's not hard to do, and comes in handy when you have long links and don't want your posts to look like gibberish.
