  1. To me the trades are more about your desire to learn an the effort you put into the job, not your age. Go for it man an became the best electrician out there.
  2. I hope I can get it fixed soon to, also without to much hassle or cost. Unfortinaly Ime not at that point were I can afford a second one. The manufacturer sticker price is 12k. It's my most expensive tool. It's also the tool that enables to me make money. Down the road when I buy a little bit bigger welder i will keep this one for backup. In the mean time my trailblazer is my lifeline.
  3. Nothing like tools or equitment failing on you. I've had a add on local classifieds for basic welding work. It's been somewhat successful. Got a call Wednesday afternoon an went this morning to meet someone for a little side job. Just had to weld a end plate to a skid steer bucket. I got there fired up my miller trailblazer 325 diesel witch is a engine driven welder an generator. Got my angle grinder an cleaned up the area I need to weld. Go to weld an nothing, I couldn't even strike a arc. Guy was watching me so I just played it cool like actually I think i am gonna mig. I was hoping that it was just some glitch in the pc board or something non crucial. Get my wire feeder out set it up an still nothing. I am so mad at myself an my welder for failing. I looked like a idiot but more importantly this guy ain't gonna be calling back or recommending me. I said I could do a job an couldn't do it. So I drove over to the service center about a hour an a half away. I explained the problem an there like well we can look at it Monday. I said ok but can you get it out of my truck. So they get the forklift an lift it out. Dude on the forklift was completely careless. Forklift had a boom attachment on the forks an just lifted from the lifting point. He turned real quik an just barely cleared my toolbox as it spun. Then goes to put it down an lowered it pretty quickly as it slammed to the ground. So currently I have paperweight sitting at the dealer. I take pride in my tools an it's been a great welder till now. It only has like 600 hours on it, most of witch were just generator hours. I have always maintained it according to manufacture maintenance schedule. I mean if a grinder fails I have extras or can just get one cheap at Home Depot. Without my welder thoe I am screwed.
  4. Now that you have had this saw a while how do you like it? I have the same model but the part that piece that holds the threads on the clamp down wore out after a few monthes. Was not very pleased with it wearing out so soon. Saw works just can't clamp anything tight. I have a metabo an a makita that work good. Use to have a craftsman professional but sold it when I moved.
  5. According to Home Depots website they have the same pair for 28 bucks. I looked at kleins website an they have a 7", 10" an 12" version. Each version is avaible in quik adjust or the standard like I have. http://t.homedepot.com/p/Klein-Tools-10-in-Classic-Klaw-Pump-Pliers-D504-10/204064652
  6. That was one of my I titian thoughts. The reason I figured otherwise was cause the finish. The couple kiniepex tools I have are very well finished. No casting lines, or rough edges. Perhaps there knipex re brands but not to that level of finish or even maybe knipex rebrands.
  7. They look identical. My guess is just a rebranded one of that.
  8. Organizing my truck for the first time in a couple monthes I found these under the seat. I was given these brand new a couple months ago an never used them. There a 10" version, I believe Klein makes other sizes to. There journeyman series are good to, I have that pair as well. My first impression is there a nice tool. They fit well in your hand with a good balance. Adjustment is easy. I quickly grabbed a few things along with picked up a few others. Teeth have a good bite, but keep in mind there still brand new. Upon farther inspection handles are dipped plastic or something. I like them because although they don't provide a lot of cushion they aren't bulky. They can fit in tight spaces. Same with the head it's not super thick to the point it won't fit in a tight space. It still seems strong enough an should work fine. I noticed there is slite rust on one side. They have never been used, just sitting in my truck. So I will wipe slight wd40 or some rust remover an preventive on them. The casting an finish seem to be a little rough. The adjusting mechanism is nicely done, but not the top of head or back of pliers. It's not a knipex quality finish but I could care less the finish an more the function. I will use them for a while an be sure to report back.
  9. A powermax 125. It was at work so it's not mine. They have a powermax 45 all the way to 2 of the max pro series. I personally own a powermax 65. Hypertherm really makes great products.
  10. Machine of the day was a Lincoln flextec 650 with a LF74 wire feeder. Millwakee electric grinder. I was also using my miller digital elite welding helmet with a pair of new miller gloves. Lastly I had a miller fume extractor going. Job today was pretty much welding up guards for a oil Derrick. Monday all parts were cut using a hypertherm powermax an a clausing horizontal bandsaw. Material was mainly expanded metal an angle with a little bit of flat stock. Hopefully by end of day tomorrow all 58 guards will be done. Some guards are just small boxes some are pretty big.
  11. Personally I would look at whats needed more. If you would use a saw more often get the saw. Or could you possible sell all but one air soft gun an still have enough for a saw, maybe a lesser model but stil one that does the job?
  12. A shop vac on the floors/Seats when it gets bad. If ime in a good mood I will even wipe down everything with a wet rag. Don't really polish anything. As far as washing the whole outside that doesn't really happen. I go over the windows an headlights/tailights at the gas station with the water an squeegee there. Girlfriend always complains my truck is dirty inside. I joke that the only time I ever got her in it was when she had a few to many drinks an couldn't drive home from a friends house.
  13. Hey PROTOOLNUT or anyone else you seem to know your stuff about pressure washers, or at least deffintly more then me. I have always wondered what makes a triplex pump good? I have heard a few times it's better to have triplex. I was pressure washing my aunts driveway an the neighbor comented I have a high end pressure washer. I sorta just nodded my head in agreement not knowing much. Specifically mine has has a triplex pump with ceramic plungers. What makes it good an what are a triplex pumps disadvantages? Do all triplex pumps have ceramic plungers or is that another upgrade?
  14. I got a John Deere ac-3500gh. It's a 3500 psi, 3.7 gpm belt driven model. I really haven't used it much probably 80-100 hours. So far no complaints. Works well. dealer price is like 1600 new. I didn't need such a nice one but was able to get it for just a trade in labor an had to buy some stick electrodes. Farmer purchased three tractors an got 3 free pressure washers. He already had a hot water one an didn't need three more. So a weekends worth of welding pipe fence I got a new pressure washer. Worked well for both of us.
  15. Man I absolely love the convience of the hose. I wish they came in a 3/4 version for our larger tools thoe, maybe they do an I just don't know. At work we use mainly the 1/2 flexizlla lines on reels in the shop. On service trucks we have regular rubber air hoses,I know one is Goodyear but not sure if they all are. Those things get the heck beet out of them. We keep extras at the shop to replace them when needed. Really thoe I think hoses are a ietam if you can expect to replace regularly. I mean when used daily it wears out no matter how good the hose. Personally I own a 25' length 3/8 diameter flexizlla just to run my plasma cutter off of. I don't have a big enough compreser for metwalworking/mechanics air tools so I don't have any other pneumatics for home. It's really a great hose for me. Used it in the snow working out of my truck no problems, an no problems in 100 degree heat either. Ime anther person who also recommends flexzilla air hoses.
  16. Compared to my store in The states ime pretty jealous.
  17. Millwakee, Diablo, or sometimes Lenox are my preferences for blades. If I see packs for a good deal I pick them up, I can always use them. I can't stand the avanti ones sold at Home Depot, there cheap but cut an wear horrible. The Bosch blades work but not great, I think there overpriced compared to the compitions better quality.
  18. I wouldn't quite say it was a deal of a lifetime but it still priced reasonably well. As I was waiting for them to finish my tires I looked on my phone for the prices off snap ons website. Matco I didn't look at but as beuark1 said there not cheap either. I Deffintly didn't just shell over the money.
  19. Never heard it but it makes me laugh. I even have a hard time justifying the purchase as used. Still not 100% sure if ime gonna keep or re sell. I will probably keep them but it's like man it's a lot of green.
  20. Just clicked on the link an it didn't work From reading everyone's comments it reminds me why ime thankful my job doesn't require me to work with stupid customers. Only ones I deal with are crazy treehuggers telling my how bad oil and natural gas our.
  21. He didn't like the holder on the snap on impact sockets, so he didn't want them.
  22. When getting tires for my truck I saw a brand new looking snap on tool box. Biggest one I've saw in person for a Individual mechanic. The guy said the guy who got it loves showing it off. A few minutes later I am looking at every drawer. It was nice an all till he told me he spent 30k on box alone. The guy was real nice an all, Deffintly smart in some stuff. He sorta confused me thoe because he is broke an needs to pay bills. He also sold tools for almost pennies on the dollar because there so filthy it's embarrassing. Wait i was just told you need more money to pay your bills but you are going to buy a new wrench cause the old one works but just greasy. Am I the only one confused by that? Well guys I paid 800 for the tools shown.... I think there still pretty clean compared to my other tools.
  23. If I were you I would give proto duratek some consideration. I have a few sets at home an work. I would take them over snap on screw drivers any day. Price point isn't cheap but there still cheaper then the snap ons.
  24. My go to cutters are the xl series diagnoal cutters by proto. They come in a few different sizes an are very straight forward. There no frills handle style but work great.I also have a pair of Klein journeyman series diagnoal cutting pliers that work good to. Then of course I have a few cheaper and/or older ones to. I've got my eyes on the millwakee cutters, just don't need another duplicate tool. a kinipex pair would be nice to. I would stay away from kobalt brand ones. I had a pair an they were absolutely horrible. Also it's never a bad idea to have a set of small bolt cutters. Don't try to be superman using the wrong tool for the job. Yes digital cutters work for some but the small bolt cutters are easier an won't get ruined over time with heavy cuts. I have a real small pair of kinipex bolt cutters, I think there 9" but could be wrong. By far well worth whatever they cost.
