  2. I looked at the skilsaw models an wasn't impressed with the feel. I didn't rule them out but there not winning. the makita 5377mg I got to use the other day is impressive. I really like the feel an performance is great. the 5377 might be the one I go with.
  3. Look into Armstrong and Proto. They not cheap but cheaper then snap on. Great quality as well.
  4. Nice buy, let us know how they work. I have thought about getting some before but just use whatever wood blade I have. Usually it's a millwakee or Diablo blade. For small branches I love my fuel sawzaw. Its slower then a chainsaw but usually easier. No time spent getting out starting an putting away chainsaw. It's also a lot easier to handle an probably safer then a chainsaw.
  5. It's hard to say what you should do. It's sort of like asking who's got the best power tool line up. We need more info on the project.
  6. Thanks man. My thanksgiving was spent working a 15 hour shift. We had a rush job come in the shop that needed to get done. ime well paid thoe for it so no complaints.
  7. I loaned out my fairly new Bosch circular saw to a co worker an it came back all messed up. The blade guard is bent badly an the base plate is twisted as well. I was somewhat irritated with the guy an just told him to keep it. He did give me 140 bucks. That brings up the question do you loan your tools out? Personally a year an a half ago I never would consider it. Today I am a little more willing to thoe. We had a house fire an some people generously loaned or gave my family stuff. It sort of changed my view on loaning out my stuff. So now days I loan my stuff out to people if need be. If it's a tool I need at work I won't loan it out but if it's something I don't need for a few days I will loan it out.
  8. I need a new corded circular saw. I have a millwakee fuel cordless but gotta replace my corded. I don't use them a lot but enough to need one. No rush to buy one thoe, so gonna see what you suggest. Who suggests what? I will be using it just around the house.
  9. I have used Hilti tools, mainly there demolition tools. Great tools but I still don't personally own any.
  10. Of the two choices Within your budget I like the first one. It's really hard thoe cause it all depends on the type of tools you have. I have a feeling you would be happy with either thoe. Just remember there's never enough to space for tools.
  11. Today we got a new snow blower. We went with a troy built squall 2100. Nothing big but it's ok. Before moving we had 5 Troy built single stages that were only 2 seasons old. Me my dad an brother plowed snow an used the single stages for sidewalks if we didn't shovel them. Can't remember why we went with the Troy builts in Chicago. We did thoe, an no major issues. Went with troy built again. I will update you on how the new one performs come first snowfall.
  12. Congrats to your daughter. At least sponsors are lined up to help cover cost, guessing it's a pricey sport.
  13. For the pump I would make sure there's not so many chips clogging it over time. We have that problem every month or so at my work, even with a strainer thing. Just remove chips an good to go. Not sure about the breaker issue.
  14. Thanks guys, me an my dad have both done a lot of research. We are leaning towards doing it ourselves.
  15. So who here is a welder??? What type of welding do you do??? Personally I am a welder/fabricator an every now an then a real basic machinist. Mainly I run stick or wire feed. I can do some tig but it's not my strong point. I work in the oil an gas industry, usually in the shop but occasional field work.
  16. I know the feeling, it sucks not having the capability. In my case there were jobs I turned down cause I couldn't drill a big enough whole. I bought a millwakee mag drill an I really went to town then. To bad it cost me more then 1k to add the drill an cutters. Drill press would of been nice but I don't have a dedicated shop. I've guessing your talking about a drill press thoe. What would you go with to do it? didn't you just get that jet drill press, or was it someone else?
  17. As some may have read before parents recently bought a house. It was bank owned an was in poor shape cosmetically. It's not even several years old but needs landscaping, cabinets/countertops, paint, flooring an we're gonna finishing the basement as well. The house was priced right so there's money for work to be done. We are gonna start the flooring part hopefully within a month or so. The first floor we are going to do all hardwood. Parents want real hardwood, no fake engineered stuff. We have had several bids done for installation an finishing. Lots of money for a freaking floor if your asking me. In the bid we said we would tear up the old tile an bedrooms with carpet. We're thinking one step farther thoe. What would it take to install floor are self? I have helped install glue down before an also done some floating laminate at aunt house. Lots of research an it doesn't look to bad. I mean I know enough to be dangerous an my dad is the similar. I have a compresser an saws, would just need a nailer. We are willing to do the work if it saves money. It really is just depends how much money an how difficault the work is. Not trying to be cheap because if need be we're have someone do it, but If possible to save money why not? So what's your thoughts?
  18. I love the welding section, can't wait for it to get more posts.
  19. Looks nice. Gotta love the millers. My welder is only a trailblazer 325 diesel mounted in my 08 Silverado. Like you I don't own my own bussniess I just do side jobs.
  20. Thanks guys. Checked it out with him tonight, he loves it. I must admit Ime a little jealous lol.
  21. I have the m18 fuel an m18 original sawzaw. As others said the orginal is nothing special. It does the job thoe so I won't beat it up to much. What that said if it was a lot cheaper go with the m18 orgiginal for around home. If it's only a 20 dollar difference thoe, just wait an go with the fuel.
  22. neighbor kid got a dewalt scroll saw. We're gonna open it up tommorow but I was wondering if anyone had any pointers. Ime more of a metal guy so this whole wood thing is a change. It's a dewalt one, not sure the model.
