  1. Same here. I think Craigslist was a decent idea but people too, advantage of people, ruining Craigslist for others.
  2. I would be willing to say it's a scam. If I do a local deal an I don't know you it's cash an cary first come first served. If it easily fits in my truck I wont meet at my house. I will meet down the street at a gas station or somewhere during the daytime. I also won't do it if it seems to good to be true or doesn't make sense. It's impossible to stop all scams or crimes but i do what I can to reduce my risk. When I lived in Chicago surburbs I stopped using Craigslist. I then used a local buy sell group on Facebook. The fb sale group I was on worked better then Craigslist. I now live in Utah an use KSL. It's a local news channels online classifieds. It's much bigger then the local craigslist. Scams are less often I think, but still there. I am also on a local Facebook sales group.
  3. Let me know if he responds. I would be willing to help as well. I have some money I can put towards the cause. I have a lot of extra tools thoe. I could probably donate more in lightly used tools.
  4. That is so true. We had nothing to offer but a lot of people came forward and helped. I owe those people forever, never will I be able to repay them. I remember just watching everything an someone from up the street brought out a blankets an jackets for us. Another brought folding chairs after one offered we could go sit inside there house. One neighbor brought over hot coco. I mean there's so many people who helped how they could. It didn't necisarly need to be money but simple things helped. We kept track of who helped. Almost everyone said just keep the money or pay it forward. Many of them we at least took out to dinner an shoveled there driveways and stuff like that. Like I said thoe I really can't repay those who helped. Of course there were people I thought cared an they just looked the other way. I learned who cared for my family.
  5. I have a metabo flat head. It is weird but convient in certain situations. I have only truly needed it a few times but worth keeping Is the fuel braking one that much better then the regular fuel? I have two fuel non braking ones an one regular m18 brushed version.
  6. 3 cordless an 11 corded. My go to corded is a Millwakee 13 amp 5" paddle, witch I have 4 of. I also have two electric die grinders.
  7. I should add that I hope no one has to go through such a thing. It is one of the worst things I've gone through in life. I think the only thing worse was loosing my sister at a young age, an then my uncle. I still ask myself what if we didn't make it out. I remember leaving with my family. It's one of those things that looking back on it makes you appreciate life differently.
  8. I have been there. As much as it sucks a garage an even a house don't matter In the grand scheme of things. Its beyond words how bad it hurts to loose everything an how hard it is. The thing that matters most is your loved ones. You can't replace your loved ones.
  9. I gotta buy a new vehicle soon. Been to a few dealers an still haven't pulled the trigger. I am looking at the f450s. I also have considered the Ram an Chevy versions. I would like a single rear wheel for my daily driver but it doubles as my work truck so I need a dually.
  10. I received a new streamlight stinger model 75457 today. Basically it looks as if the battery froze. What gets me is it's the same model that I kept two of in my truck through both winter an summer with no problems. They are the same model so I don't think anything changed but maybe they did. I could be wrong. I plan on buying another but don't want to if this happens. I kept them in my truck an there great lights. I am only replacing them cause I lost my previous ones somewhere in a car accident. I contacted amazon an have to ship it back an a new ones on its way. I will hold off on buying a second one.
  11. That's a great price, and tempting. I would get it but I really don't need another cordless angle grinder. Still very tempting. My corded metabo grinders are top notch, would love to have a cordless. Thanks for sharing thoe.
  12. The main wrenches I use are Proto an Sk. No problems with them rounding off fasteners.
  13. I don't know who makes adapters. i would look into Makitas 1/4 electric die grinder. I have one an it's great for small work.
  14. I was wondering if anyone has advice on how to inspect used tools. If you don't mind sharing, I would love to hear I plan on renting a shop space in two years or so. The bussniess end is a whole different topic so ile stick to tools on here. I am keeping eyes on classifieds, for deals. If I can save money getting tools now I can get started as soon as I get into a workable sized space with good electrical. Sooner I can get running sooner I get paid. Moving larger things twice will be a pain but I think it's worth it. Buying everything top of the line brand new would be great but your looking way more money then a start up bussniess. I am looking at the following tools. Obviously I will have to prioritize what I buy with funds avaible an what comes up. - horizontal bandsaw - drill press - hydraulic press - vertical mill - lathe - tooling, all types - hose reel -vise/clamps - blast cabinet -bench grinder -etc I plan on buying 3 welders, and air compreser new. A small cnc plasma table with another plasma cutter would be nice as well.
  15. Good to hear. I remeber a guy I knew who ended up in hospital after galvinized fumes. I never welded galvinized at that point, I figured it was all in his head. I later googled it an all sorts of specific things you can get from the chemical procces when heated.
  16. I had a Br600 for at one time. Only got it on trade for work an later sold for cash. It was a great blower but I was strapped for cash at one point an I didnt really need it. I can't speak to long term durability. As far as well I had it, I loved it. She started every time without trouble. I found it's power was nicely adjusted. I could run full open in some areas well lower it down by flower beds. The switch was weird it was easy to turn off if you were meaning to lock the trigger. The chute adjustment was a pain but those are minor problems. Keep in mind that was residential use an I let my neighbor use it a few times, very few hours overall.
  17. I am sort of inbetween. I don't baby my tools but I use them as tools. For my power an hand tools I just wipe them down. When I have spare time I will do that. If a tool gets really greasy or muddy I toss it aside in my truck then clean it later before going in the box. That way I don't go to the next job making a mess. My engine drive welder I maintain according to manufacture recommendations. At the same time I run it max duty cycle when needed.
  18. Haven't picked up many tools lately. Just been picking up supplies such as abrasives, electrodes, blades, etc. I have the tools I truly need so I am trying to save money.
  19. Looks like a great start again. For not welding in 16 years those aren't bad. They need work but you have the idea. I can't tell for sure but if those are galvanized hinges please be careful. Those fumes can cause serious problems.
  20. I have a generator on my Miller trailblazer 325, so I don't have a sole generator now but....in the past have used Hondas without problems. A few years ago Briggs an Stratton has a generator called storm responder. They work great for a week but are garbage after that. I don't recommend them.
  21. If your looking for a homeowner grade box that won't break the box I would check out Millwakee boxes. They got there big one an just came out with 2 new models not long ago.
  22. We have the same ones, except in red. You got a great deal, we on the other hand didn't get as good a deal. All the the buttons confuse me. I look at them an say ahh why is this all necisary. Someone else probably looks at my tools an sais the same thing.
  23. I got set of Goodyear wrangler mtr with Kevlar on my Silverado. They have done everything I have needed. I added a link to the tires. https://www.goodyear.com/en-US/tires/wrangler-mtr-kevlar I also did a thread on tires. http://professional-power-tool-guide.com/power-tool-forum/index.php?/topic/6949-tires/
