  1. I notice the lack of a drop tube on the pop-off valve too.
  2. I too cringe when I see someone ship FedEx. My shop in Florida was located on a two block long street that had a similar name to a road in the next county. FedEx routinely labeled my shipments as non-deliverable, even though the local driver knew me by name. It was astounding that the idiots at the local distribution center could not even be bothered to use something like map-quest before rejecting the package. There really is a difference between avenue and road, ya know... zip codes too.
  3. Just over a year ago I had ordered an adapter for the Fein supercut that I had acquired from ToolNut. The cordless supercut kit was one of those specials that they had offered and was a fantastic deal for an outstanding product. The adapter that I received from them, however, was a piece of crap, not worthy of the Fein name on the packaging. It did not fit into the tool properly, and also set the tooling on the tool approx. ten degree offset alignment. The end result of that order was being told by ToolNut that this was a known issue... Last week, while cruising their Festool site, I found an offer for the adapter that looked like the issue had been corrected. I ordered one. This is the correct rendition of what the adapter should look like, and one that would slip into the end of the shaft on the supercut. This is also the picture they use on their site. What I received from them again, was something that looked like this... This adapter does not fit into the end of the shaft but sits on top in a manner that rocks back and forth, until you lock the shaft into the tool. It also misaligns the blades. This is a known issue and yet ToolNut group is still selling this piece of crap using a picture that does not represent what they are selling. I am disappointed, to say the least.

Pickup Scan United States 11/25/2016 3:53 P.M. Order Processed: Ready for UPS Been more than ten years since something like this has happened to me dealing with UPS. Last time the package was classed as lost and ended up showing up on my doorstep the same day as the replacement. Tracking wasn't as good back then as it is these days, I guess... (I should note that I posted this more because of how unusual it is for me to have a problem with UPS than not.)
  5. I've always thought of it as a sin to let a tool get that bad.
  6. Mora carving knives... ToolGuyd had an Amazon deal of the day post last Saturday on Mora knives. For as inexpensive as these were, the quality of the blades is excellent.
  7. I am with you on this. The L-Boxx just don't stack and unstack as easily as the systainer. Especially if you put a bunch of weight in them.

    Flexvolt clearance

I posted this more because of the clearance status than the price point they gave it.
  9. CPO has already placed the fixed base miter saw into the clearance section. http://www.cpooutlets.com/dewalt-dhs716ab-120v-max-flexvolt-cordless-lithium-ion-12-in--fixed-compound-miter-saw-with-adapter-only--bare-tool-/dewndhs716ab,default,pd.html Comes with adapter only at $450 minus $25 holiday coupon. Total $424.99 including shipping.
  10. And here I was, wondering if anyone really cared about the pallet...

    Panel Lift

I ended up getting a bit side tracked this week and started working on a different part of the jigsaw puzzle... Basically it was finishing sections of the concrete floor in areas where the equipment is being moved to, or going to be covered by build outs for appliances. Oi vay, that epoxy finish stinks... Jacks are in place on both sides of the wall so that the damaged top plate on the center wall can be removed. For safety purposes, all jack posts have steel plates attached to the base. Cross member is attached with hurricane ties. When I get to the outer wall, I will probably tie a longer cross beam into the joists before attaching the posts, as I need to push five joists at the same time in that location. That's much further down the list though. Prior to this current distraction, and after also, I was pulling old wires out of the way and then dropping most of what was left of the old ceiling, along with moving the storage shelving and equipment around to be able to do so... During this I found one of those all too common issues that I dread having to find in an old house. Uncapped live wires. This instance was not as bad as my brother and I have found in past projects, but still annoying all the same. This time, I found an old doorbell transformer still hooked into the primary circuit with the low voltage wires still attached, cut, and laying in the dust on the sheet rock ceiling panel. When I first moved into the house, I had removed the transformer for the door bell that was currently in use (I detest electric door bells), so this find was a bit unexpected. By the time I finish working on this house, there will be NO other issues like this for anyone else to find...

    Home Depot

Sno-joe products are on sale today... http://www.homedepot.com/SpecialBuy/SpecialBuyOfTheDay
  13. Rump Thumping deal showed up this afternoon... One Metabo 4 1/2" grinder. The one thing that bothers me about this brand, is how haphazardly the items seem to be dumped into the case. One of the three grinder I picked up recently was half beat to death by the wrench that came with it. Nothing that would affect operation, just alot of scoring on the plastic housing.
  14. Sold my B&M Power Charger a couple of years back, but before I let it go, I copied all of the paperwork that came with it to a PDF. super.pdf There are a lot of old part numbers and belt diagrams available in this file. Hope it will be useful to someone.
  15. Would it be possible to add .pdf to the accepted file types for upload to managed content? Or would that cause issues? I have a pdf of B&M power charger installation instructions that might be of use to some of the automotive fans that visit the site.
  16. Tool Iholic Anonymous. Or Tool Inebriation Anonymous, if you will...

  18. Today's batch of toys from KC... My goal this year was supposed to be thinning out the tool kit... One step forward and two back it seems.
  19. Maybe forty five? I will have to find a scale and weigh it sometime. Actual dimensions are 3 x 15.5 x 7 inches.
  20. They probably didn't have access to the tooling to do it at the time, that or it would have drawn too much attention to the fact that they were goofing off during work hours. These were cut out of solid steel bar stock. Generally, items like this were made out of drops from some project they were tasked with that would have been thrown into the scrap pile.
  21. Moving things around and bumped into this... One custom built anvil... Seems the boys in the maintenance shop at GE got bored one day and built one for each of the house crew. Its about fourteen inches long overall, perfect for small projects. Another tool inherited from my fathers kit that I finished in a catalyzed polly for protection during long term storage. Surprisingly the finish has held up well since, although that may change in the future.
  22. I have both a German made unit and a PRC unit. The plastic bodies are identical, with the only differences showing up on the grinder head itself. The price on this one was worth it for the batteries alone. (Batteries from both showed as assembled in Hungary.)

    Alcohol @ tools

I keep saying that I would not make a good alcoholic because I would forget to drink. In all seriousness though, I personally prefer not to see it on the job, unless it's the end of the day, the tools are packed, and work has stopped.
  24. CPO has dropped the price on the 4 1/2" 5.2ah grinder kit again... http://www.cpooutlets.com/metabo-613071520-18v-5-2-ah-cordless-lithium-ion-4-1-2-in--non-locking-angle-grinder-kit/mtbn613071520,default,pd.html $149.99 minus $20 one time use coupon... I could not resist . Total was $129.99 including shipping.
