  1. @Conductor562 I think my dad had one of those B&D drills. It wasn't so shiny when he was through with it though... That Airstream is pretty cool and those suits those guys are wearing look to be straight out of the sixties.
  2. CPO has ended their holiday shipping special and returned it to the $199 minimum, so these specials no longer work by themselves.
  3. I gave out two Fein drill kits to my nephews and a Wiha mini ratchet kit from KC to my niece's new husband. Also a selection of flashlights and some Mora knives as stuffers...
  4. @SetBuilder Steam punk Santa?

Was in HD in Indy today and noticed a stack of upper 46" tool chests on sale for $199 ea., marked down from $299. Would have taken a picture but had left my phone out in the truck. Didn't see any base units though.
  6. Received an email from Ohio Power Tools introducing the CS Unitek (eibenstock) ELS 225.1 drywall sander/vacuum kit. https://www.ohiopowertool.com/p-16790-cs-unitec-long-reach-drywall-sander-with-vacuglide-els-2251.aspx At $965.65, about half the cost of a Festool setup, and made in Germany, it looks interesting. I am not a fan of the Porter Cable sander, so I am tempted to give this one a try, but I am also leary of the long term cost of consumables for a tool with limited distribution in the states. The Porter Cable 7800 is currently on sale for $399 at both Home Depot and Amazon...
  7. Always amazing what a bit of color can do for a room.
  8. Generally, I am fairly confident when adjusting gas lines, but less confident in existing materials and previous work, hence the latest purchase... One combustible gas detector.

Shows only five left in stock. There are a couple of other Bosch items on clearance, but these are the L-BOXX-2 tool deals. What impresses me here is that Bosch is doing something here in the states that I wish the other big names would do. Offer kits with stackable tool cases at decent prices. Also, I am not a fan of Bosch in general, for what it is worth.
  10. As yet they still have not adjusted the picture... The only item on the page is a small print warning that the adapter may not align the blades with the tool, and that evidently has been there for awhile.
  11. Oi vay, must have been too far down the page for me... lol /facepalm I guess that shows how much I pay attention to the advertisement section on a daily basis...
  12. Are you planning on adding a link in the header for your Instagram page? Or perhaps an auto-post link of some type on the TIA home page for when the latest Instagram posts go live?

Unfortunately you can't always fix the pain... I have a couple of issues that result in chronic pain pretty much 24/7. I generally tough it out, and I detest taking opiods. The non prescription items I take only somewhat control the issues and do not remove the pain itself. When the pain levels advance to a point where I can't see or think straight, I sit down and drink a beer (or two...). It takes the edge off, but again, does not kill the pain entirely. This is something that can only truly be understood when you enter into that twilight zone where the pain never completely leaves you alone, where the doctors tell you that they have no way of curing the issues and that all they can do is manage them... Some people give in and go for the drugs, and others reach a point where they off themselves (had a neighbor do that once). Again, it is unfortunate, but you can't always cure the problem that is causing the pain.
  15. The "newkct" code is still live too, if you haven't used it up yet... Not sure if it is supposed to be though. (Looks to have been removed since this was posted.)
  16. I picked up the super hawg to fill a niche in my tool kit, and would not consider it for smaller holes in general. I can't comment on the regular hawg, but the super is more weight than I would prefer unless it was the only tool I had that would fit into a particular space that needed a hole cut that a smaller unit would not have the power to do so. I use a Makita side drill for 5/8" and 3/4" auger style bits and it works fine in that capacity. Haven't tried it with the one inch bit yet. For holes where I do not need a side drill, I use a standard drill for up to one inch plus hole sizes (up to 3" hole saws). So in the end, I think that unless you need a side drill specifically, the hawg might be overkill in the price department for what you may or may not gain in power.
  17. Impact shows as sold out... battery deal also sold out.
  18. Just got off of the phone with the ToolNut sales manager. They are going to update the picture on their website to reflect the actual item that is being sold, in that they are going to physically photograph the actual item they have in stock. We also talked about the adapter and some of the conversations he has had with Fein about the issues that it has. Fein seems to think that there is no problem with the adapter not being in line with the tool (as in their mind it does not hinder tool function), and is not considering adjusting any new production runs of the adapter to correct any misalignments. Fein is also responsible for issuing the original picture in use on most websites that sell these products for them. What boggles the mind in all of this is that Fein has a picture of an adapter that would work properly, but is selling a sub-standard item that does not match their own rendition of it, or even the level of fit and engineering I would normally attribute to their products. I have had Fein power tools in my tool kit for more than a decade, and based on those tools and their performance, I fail to mentally grasp their inability to adjust something that does not live up to the same standards of engineering I see in my own hands. As it stands, I will be re-cutting the tool holder end of the adapter to reflect a shape and alignment that will work for my personal preferences, once I clear the space out around my end mill next spring.
  19. For anyone who is interested, the last two pages in this file are dedicated to B&M's definition of supercharger boost. They give a good explanation of what happens when you add pressure to a stock engine compared to a one that has been built to accept the added pressure.

The last couple of days have been dedicated in part to finally curing the problem of sewer gas in the basement. When I first moved in I assumed that it was due to the old washer drain not having a trap on it and capped that off. After that it was getting the wax ring replaced on the toilet (the cause of all the damage over the center wall). While both of those issues contributed to the gas problem, they were not the worst offender. The last spot to work on was the floor drain, but the steel cover was wedged tight into the concrete, and I left it for quite awhile. Couple of days ago I finally went to work on it and it took a bit over a half hour to work the cover up out of the drain hole to find this... Seems the trap plugged up and it was easier to just remove the clean out plug and throw it away than to pull the backwater device and snake the trap. Yeah, can't fix stupid... just clean up behind it. Have to give them props though. It did look like they made an attempt at removing the device as one tab on it was slightly bent. Thank god for SDS hammers... I used an old drum type key chucked in the regular drill to finish spinning it out after breaking it loose. The last person to install it failed to use any compound, and it was seized solid. Took close to a minute of hammering with the SDS to get it to break free. After getting the float clear, I ran a rod down into the trap and found mostly sludge. I then chased down my short snake, but could not get the bitch to turn the corner in the trap... grrrr. I ended up down at Lowes putting together something else to make the attempt. Worked so much better that trying to force the snake into a short sharp bend. Cover has been ground and finished. Now all I have to do is drill out and chase the threads on the retaining screw points and order a new backwater device. None of the local stores that are open on the weekend carry items like this anymore... They would be happy to order something though. Overall I spent as much time scrounging up parts and tools as I did actually working on the drain itself.
  21. For me, I would prefer the steel pins in the hinge points for longevity over weight rating. I simply do not trust the looks of the lighter weight brackets, that come with the rack kit, to last as long or put up with the every day use they might receive over time. Doubly so if they are in a mobile storage design. Shock load is quite the different animal compared to static load.
  22. Currently with the $25 off holiday special, purchasing 9 pair of the Dewalt DWST08212 brackets in a single order from CPO brings the price to approx. $12.22 per pair. Ordering 7 units sets the price at approx. $12.41 per pair. They seem to be out of stock on the rack systems at the moment. Outside of the convenience, I am thinking that building my own mounting rail sets might be the way to go.
