  1. RAU and ESE also make roofing tools. ESE seems to be a US company started by a German immigrant, and a quick search on RAU did not turn up any real info. Stubai is another one to look at.
  2. None to speak of per se. I have been looking at edge rollers for turning edges on duct diverters, as most duct suppliers fail to understand the relevance of installing them, by not offering designs that include them. In the process, I also started looking at standing seam roof installations, and the US tool manufacturers just don't cater to the custom realm of installations and their tool offerings are klunky in comparison to some of the Freund hand seamers available, as an example. The Malco edge roller is an abomination compared to euro offerings. So, I had to ask, as there is a somewhat limited availability of those brands as well as others here in the states.
  3. @KC_Tool Curious as to if there is a reason you do not carry roofing tool brands like Freund or Wuko.

    Home shop.

California has some rough penalties if you get caught using finishes that are not on the approved list. I once helped my brother work on a project in SoCal, and found out after the fact that if I had been caught using a non permitted spray rig and approved finish material, that I would have been held liable for up to two thousand in fines per day for that particular project. Suppliers of finish materials have some real limitations hung on their shoulders in that state.

  10. I almost think I would rather make one out of wood and laminate...
  11. Can't say that I have seen one of those recently... Last one I actually used was an antique.

    Panel Lift

Drive pin anchors... I always used to call them hammer tacks. I prefer to use these when I need good lateral shear strength. A little bit less fussy than tap-cons when it comes to hole size... A 1/4" hole into both materials and no worries about stripping anything out. I was in a real hurry one time to beat the weather when replacing the lumber on my trailer deck and used these anchors. They held up for over ten years of hard use with less than a ten percent failure rate anchored in the 1/4" steel trailer frame. Just had to seat them fully before driving the wedge in. Most of the failures were due to someone dragging scrap steel and whatnot across them later in their life.

    New Clamps

If you find any old Hargrave bar clamps in your travels, I highly recommend snapping them up if they are affordable. They are heavy and do not lend themselves to portability, but will withstand abuse over time and will not slip under pressure like pipe clamp designs can. I sold most of mine several years back in a single lot and got just as much as I originally paid for them twenty years earlier. Sort of regret doing it, but didn't have the space for them at the time. Model number 640. Been using the ones I do have left to force the old ceiling joists into position until locking them down.
  15. That sounds like an excellent idea to me. I had one of the original no name knock-offs that was the spitting image of these. Gave it to my brother years ago, and he still has it around somewhere, but he keeps threatening to scrap it. The base had a severe case of wobbles (bit like a weeble, only I doubt it would stand back up on its own), and had to be reinforced with a piece of ply in the shelf area. The wheels were like the ones on the Grizzly and nearly useless. Too much flex in the mounts and the legs kept catching on the floor when trying to move it around. Combined with the flex in the stand, it was unnerving, and aggravating, to shift it around when needed. There were also issues with the blade tracking at times, the clamp not maintaining good pressure, and finicky/cumbersome adjustment to get it close to a square cut the first time, etc.. I bought it as a stop gap for a custom project where I had to manufacture all of the metal trim/hardware on a large furniture grade office trim-out. It got me through it, but it probably cost me as much in time as the price of a better saw over the time I did keep it.
  16. In all honesty, the only item on the list that really holds my interest is the EGO snowblower. I have all of the sanders, impact wrenches, drills, tool bags/cases, and hand tools that I currently need, with the exception of more extreme tool items that would generally not show up in any prize package. I also generally don't use bluetooth items either and will be hard wiring a sound system into my current house as the renovation progresses. So that sort of leaves the mac daddy as the stand out...

    #7 hand plane

Pricey, but one of the best available... https://www.lie-nielsen.com/product/no.-7-jointer-plane Never seem to find any of them on the used market. Slightly less, but still decent... http://www.woodcraft.com/Product/153104/WR-7-Bench-Plane.aspx?gclid=CKGtu4S_otECFQkMaQodXH0O1w A garage sale or a swap meet during the summer might be your best bet though. I have occasionally found old jointer planes at antique stores in the past, but most of them wanted too much money for the condition they were in. Also, read this... https://paulsellers.com/2013/12/questions-answered-considering-longer-planes/

    New Years neighbors

It's a bit crazy that bullets seem easier to buy than fireworks here in Indiana. When I lived in Indy it was much worse than where I am now, and much less friendly too. I will be asking for a show of hands and asking any who raise them if they were shooting into the air at some point this year.
  19. Most of my neighbors this year must not have been able to find any firecrackers to celebrate with, and they were out banging away with various calibers for at least fifteen minutes after midnight. I really hope they were firing into the ground, but I doubt it... There were a couple of strings of firecrackers let off, so a few weren't being complete idiots. Had a conversation last year with one of the boys down the street from me, and the look on his face when I told him that those bullets had to come down somewhere was priceless... He is a normally intelligent sort most of the time too.
  20. If you can't find a drawer, you could always make a door and bottom for it and just use the compartment...
  21. Hang a framed poster over it, or incorporate the poster/picture frame into the door panel...

    Handfools

My pet name for BD is "Blackened Pecker". My brother always used to buy their circular saws, because he considered them cheap throwaways. Never understood the logic, and I would rather have sex with an electrical outlet than ever use one of them again (hence the nickname). I still have the Milwaukee 7 1/4" saw I purchased the minute I could afford one, over thirty years ago. My brother could have bought at least three Milwaukee saws for all the ones he threw away in the early years.
