I wish I had. I have some pictures but I would kill to have documentation of the work I've done and when. I have a hard time convincing people about some of the things I've done. I do keep a lot of pictures of some of the more unusual ones because they're neat. I just wish I had documentation of some sort from when I was sixteen running 8" mainlines by myself and those kinds of things. Basically a resume to show potential employers of what I am capable of. Most of what I have is more of the "man you wouldn't believe what happened to..." I'm interested to see how everyone else keeps track.

I dunno. My dad's approach was just to have a bunch of kids and have them follow him around with a wheelbarrow picking up every nail and scrap. Our reward was being given a box of matches and being told we get to burn it all. In all seriousness though I have to do a cleanup around noon and an hour before I finish because otherwise as soon as I pull the machine out I go into a get home mindset and things don't get quite cleaned up.

I've always thought it'd be nice to do like a pack rat style drawers coming out each side. It's doable but either expensive or time intensive and slightly less expensive.

Odd. I used to do 300-400 miles a day when I was doing the service thing and never had a problem with any of my boxes, Ridgid or DeWalt and a good portion of it was off-road. I run a sixteen hour shift now and at least 8 of that is driving off road and my new DeWalt organizers (not toughsystem ones) haven't gotten any dust in them. Must just be lucky.

I need to start building a set before the hay equipment gets shut down and I'm back dealing with trucks. At the very least I need to get a Pittsburgh set and replace them with proto as needed. I might go impact though. At the very least I need 2"-2 1/2" to unload the occasional belly dump.

Hypothetically, probably not. There's a lot of variables. If you had ideal material conditions and an ideal way to apply constant torque to tighten it and bring it up to 650 ft/lbs then you would have a bolt torqued to 650 ft/lbs. The breakaway torque required to get a fastener with a static load moving again in the opposite direction is generally higher than the torque that was applied to a moving fastener in the other direction. What does 650 ft/lbs equate to as far as how high a bolt was torqued to? I dunno. All that spec means is that it will put out 650 ft/lbs of torque in reverse. So enough for fasteners on a light duty vehicle.

What'd you think about the new SKs? You get your hands on one yet? I was disappointed to see them drop the knurling. I hope they offer it as an option soon.

I bought one because it's ten dollars, but like I've said they still aren't worth a shit. Had it in the bed of my pickup all day and even was physically in the bed a few times and the last time it picked it up was over six hours before I left work when I pulled it up on the app on my phone and tried to refresh it. I thought maybe just because they weren't worth a shit for stolen tools they might be fine for just keeping track of what truck a box is in, but they aren't even worth a shit at that.

Like checking trucks? What are you checking for? Mechanical faults or contraband?

Worked about 3 years doing dairy work/operating heavy equipment/construction/plumbing/cow shit/electrical/facility maintenance/farm equipment operator/on road trucking. Went exclusively farm equipment operator for a few months. Did fabrication in the shop for a while. Spent the fall driving truck off and on and then Thanksgiving to Christmas between here and Oregon driving truck mixed with freezing my ass off dealing with frozen shit. Was mobile service/repair and I think had the title Maintenance and Equipment Manager for all 223 vehicles from January through Mid May. Worked as interim mechanic for a few weeks there. Just heavy trucks and equipment. Seen some shit including dealing with a rollover that shut down a whole bridge and pass for half a day. Currently in charge of Hay cutting operations and co-manage the rest of the harvest process. The pay is shit, but at the end of the day does the experience and job description make it enjoyable and worth doing? No. It's what I do though.

I use quick base at work to track equipment and different Motorola radios and what not. I have a few Excel spreadsheets of the 12k in shit I got stolen a while ago, better to do that before rather than after your stuff gets stolen. Keep it with digital copies of your receipts.

Whoever comes out with either a 2x18v or 60v 1" drive impact wrench with 2500 ft/lbs gets my very limited $.

So is the 1400/1000 ft/lbs on a 3/4 drive? No reason for that much torque in a 1/2 drive. Just going to be a lot of people breaking shit.

Picked these up at a deal the other Friday. Didn't really have a chance to look around for any more because we had a truck roll on a bridge and shut down a major interstate in both directions. They're stainless. Nice cause mine always seem to rust. Anyone know if there are any other stainless tools like this on the market?

Anyone notice if there's any options that can get you an impact wrench as the free tool?

Also kinda curious if harbor freight or anyone has some cheaper ones. Looking for some myself for miscellaneous UHF connectors and harness components as I do a shit ton of Motorola installs.

They stay as clean as the rag on my pocket. Something I picked up during my cattle days. I always keep a rag either tucked into my belt or pocket. The only time told actually get a focused cleaning is usually my seal puller and vice grips after changing wheel seals.

I stopped using cordless power tools a while ago with a few exceptions. I'm a field, well the field service guy. The only time I don't use tools is on the way between service calls and when I'm in the office. I don't want to be there any more than I have to and told get used accordingly. I buy all my own tools. I've stopped buying tools for a few months now. All my tools look like they've seen some shit literally and figuratively.

Yeah the new 8 series will blind the shit out of you.
