  1. How is this good of a deal possible? The one key Drill and Impact kit is already over $400 and the one key recip saw bare tool is over $200 dollars. The one key recip kit is more expensive than this kit. Just need a deal like this for some other tools I want. I'd buy a white one long as it has black mixed in.
  2. I don't remember where it was, might have been the New England area, but was something like -60F
  3. What Metabo is to drills Makita is to impacts. Metabo seems to regularly update their drills just like Makita seems to regularly update their impacts. The top of the line Makita, although good, is pretty old just like the Metabo Impact is old. I wonder how the triple hammer Metabo will compare to the Hitachi.
  4. these look great. Won't be too long before you have a bunch of different color combinations like you get with Tanos Systainers
  5. The next gen Ram 1500, next gen Silverado 1500, revival of the Ford Ranger, and a few new F150 versions are in the works. They were unveiled this last week. What do you guys think. The Ram had a new kind of starter and a 12 in screen which were features that seemed to stand out to me. The Chevy had new liftgate system that not only was power open but power close too. The engines were the most interesting I thought. It had a diesel option and the v8 engines can have up to 7 cylinders deactivate which seems crazy. Not sure how a pickup truck could run on only one cylinder. The Ranger seemed kinda so-so. It was nice to get a new entry into the midsize market but with only one engine option it doesn't seem as good. It had a decent look and I liked where the shifter was located but it didn't have many standout features. There is a diesel f150 coming out which I didn't see any videos of it from the show but Ford's live stream mentioned a hybrid f150 which doesn't seem too exciting at first but it sounded like it had a feature that allowed the truck to become a power source for if you have a power outage and need to power a tv or something. here are a few videos of the vehicles.
  6. I like the new section and had a question about it. Does a post have to be about one tool? I could see tool event talk making sense to be in this section as well. What do you guys think? @Eric - TIA @Dan - TIA
  7. We have had cold temps here too. Had record lows last month. Also Welcome Back!
  8. It appears that the bench is part of the same system as the racks so maybe a guy could mix parts together to make a different height bench or customize the rack.

    2x20V lawn mower

Thats not a bad price at all. I think my gas push mower was around the same price. It does have powered rear wheels with Toro's personal pace system which this doesn't have.
  10. I'd almost rather SB&D keep DeWALT the same then either buy a dedicated company (less ideal) for these kind of tools or convert one of their other brands to do this (more ideal). SB&D has so many brands with similar stuff. B&D, Porter Cable, Bostitch, Mac, DeWALT, Stanley, and Craftsman all have a cordless drill of some sort. Some may only be sold in one store but regardless it is almost too many brands under the same parent company to be selling the same stuff. All you need is a diy, mid range, and pro line of cordless tools. Anything more seems too much in my opinion. I could easily see SB&D doing so with Porter Cable. PC already sells some more woodworking focused tools like routers in such. It would be a good fit because before their quality dropped they were one of the better woodworking companies. I could see a table saw that rivals a cabinet grade SawStop/Powermatic with a higher end/more accurate DeWALT rack and pinion fence as being a huge hit.
  11. Here is my 2 cents. "Cordless all the things" even if it is in a shop setting. Cords are a hassle especially on a router.
  12. Schaffer stuff is based off moly
  13. I was heard moly is a good synthetic oil material.
  14. The subcompact Makita is nothing special in terms of power. Entry level 18v power at best. The gen 2 fuel is outstanding in power and rivals some entry level 18v tools but not the premium stuff. The premium Makita is some of the best. I'd buy premium Makita if I wasn't already invested in DeWALT. The x2 recip is the best recip on the market (onekey sawzall not included). The x2 plunge saw is the best valued premium cordless plunge saw on the market.
  15. I generally shop online but I would have to agree Lowes has the largest selection of DeWALT in store of the big box stores. Online is a different story. Go to Home Depot's website and the selection of any brand is gotta be at least 10x that of what is in store. I generally don't shop at big box stores anymore I tend to go with acme tools and other similar online stores that only sell tools. They tend to have as good if not better deals than the big box stores and you don't gotta sort through all the non tool deals.
  16. actually the flex 54v/2 has 15 cells. the new 20v 6.0 has only 10 though.
  17. and it only applies to something caused by ridgid right like a defect?
  18. I don't want to give Lowes a poor review but I find Lowes hard to shop at. Anyone else find the same? Let me explain. I was shopping online last night at Lowes and it felt like Lowes just has a strange selection of tools and it seems a bit small, hit and miss, and/or lacking. Also they will carry a line of tools but not the full line. You can also find some items but only in kits when they are available elsewhere as a standalone item. It has some DeWALT but not some major lines of DeWALT like Flexvolt apart from the radio and power supply, Tough System apart from the power supply, the clamp line apart from the guide rail clamps, the battery powered DeWALT nailers, or all of the new Tool Connect stuff apart from the tags. Bosch is most notably missing things like Daredevil spade bits and Starlock.
  19. @Tool nut I'd say stick with your Makita. Large tool selection and the High demand line uses same batteries as 18v line. Also the subcompact line could be used in tasks you would normally use a 12v tool but without switching batteries. Another thing is you don't need an adapter to use your old Makita stuff. @fm2176 has a good point though, buying the DeWALT adapter would allow you to keep using your old DeWALT stuff. Another thing to consider is Your Ridgid Router and sander can be replaced by a Makita offering but DeWALT does not offer any cordless options. I like my DeWALT 20v and Flexvolt stuff but if I had a chance to go back and startover with my tool collection I would seriously consider Makita.
  20. I bought one of Bosch's new 40 something piece bit sets with the new bit box system. I used a $25 gift card I got and only had to pay $1 and some change. I liked that it had a wider variety of 2 in bits like a phillips #3 and #1 and a torx t40 which my Flextorq does not come with in 2 in and no t40 at all.

    Track Saws

@bee-man if the x2 rear handle is like the flexvolt rear handle then you should be able to get a dust collection adapter.
  22. There is a new Wrangler coming out. Jeeps closest looking vehicle to the "war era" Jeep.
  23. my dream saw is a top of the line Sliding table saw from the likes of Felder or whoever else makes the "Felder style" of saw. Some lower end saws like SawStop have a sliding table which provides similar function and looks similar but it's just not the same. Felders, Martins, etc. are on a whole different level. Their price makes a $6000 SawStop look cheap.

    Track Saws

@bee-man I'd buy the track over the rear handle but if you need more power than what the plunge saw can provide then you will want the rear handle. The rear handle is built for speed and power. Unlike the plunge saw which is built for accuracy and quality of cut. 2 advantages of the rear handle you haven't listed over the plunge is a good line of sight and better power. I don't see any reason to keep the rear handle if the plunge will be sufficient. There isn't really a reason in your specific situation that the rear handle provides that the plunge saw does not. Also with the guide rails you should be able to use a router with it as well which makes the plunge saw purchase that much more versatile.
