Hugh Jass Posted August 10, 2017 Report Share Posted August 10, 2017 Here is all cap rock, or fossilized coral limestone. Some of it seems to be more wear and friction resistant than concrete. Excavators don't like it here much unless you happen to be digging in fill, you trench to dig or use drill rigs to set foundations for the most part. The knife plate is not always going to fit in with the existing beam... so there have been times where we have to slot the holes in the glulam. DeWALT stud drill works like a charm.
