FrosBros82
Was thinking about actual wood working tools... and Dewalt comes to mind as a decent player for that application. Nail guns, planer, palm sander, table saw, miter saw, etc. Do they not make a belt sander? Or am I just misinformed? Of the big four, my knowledge says that only Makita makes one? Note - Big four = DeWALT, Bosch, Milwaukee, Makita
RickyMcGrath
They don't currently make a belt sander. They had one a while back that was a horrible failure and they never made another one. I still have it actually.
Rtorres092382
Question for Ricky, why was it a failure? Do you think they could correct the mistakes of the old corded model? I'm curious about this too because I'd really like a cordless belt sander and with Flexvolt I figure there would be enough power for it. FrosBros82
I didn't even really consider something for a cordless model, I was just wondering about a corded tool. It seems like most of their woodworking stuff is really good, so it's weird to me that they have not developed something yet.

According to Toolpig they will smoke a belt sander. I have never used a gear sander before but I have used a rear handle Bosch orbital at school and it was really nice to use. Big Adam
No belt sander? We've got two models in the UK..... Little One (DW433) Bigger One (DWP352VS)
FrosBros82
@Big Adam you lucky dog! Both look awesome, thanks for sharing. I guess my only complaint for the marker is that the common person is going to be stuck getting a Porter Cable or a Makita... which is fine, but there are just limited options here in the States. JMG
@Big Adam That small sander is almost identical in design to one that was produced by Black & Decker back in the late seventies and early eighties. It was an excellent small unit with great balance. I always wondered why they discontinued the design. Now if they would just turn it into a cordless unit...
FrosBros82
@JMG I would be happy if they would just make one for us folk here in the States! Regardless of it being corded or cordless, it would be nice to have another option.
Grumpy MSG
That DW433 model looks like the DeWALT that was sold her in the US and I am 99% sure that the DWP352VS is the Porter-Cable 352VS with a DeWALT designed dust port and bag on it. FrosBros82
@Grumpy MSG Doesn't DeWALT own the rights to Porter Cable?
Jronman
DeWALT and Porter Cable are both owned by Stanley Black and Decker

Jronman
apparently Husky, commonly referred to as the "home depot brand", is owned by sb&d http://toolguyd.com/tool-brands-corporate-affiliations/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_tool_manufacturers its not all of the companies but includes many of the more known ones.

People could not get the belt to track properly.
