Dremel 8220 information

Can't tell by the pic, but did you remove the collet nut? Remove the collet nut and feed the accessory shaft through it. Next, place the collet on the end of the accessory shaft. Once you've done that, insert the collet into the shaft of the dremel, tighten the collet nut, and your ready to go. Your instruction manual covers this. If you don't have it you can find the manual online. If that isn't it, there are different size accessory shafts that take different size collets. There are 4 that I know of 1/8", 3/32", 1/16", and 1/32". You may have an accessory that uses a different size than what you have. If that's the case you'll need a different collet. Lowe's and Home Depot both carry them for under $5. Good luck
