astroboy
I wish that all cordless tools had a recessed band around them so you could wrap a nice piece of electrical tape around them to write your name on. Labeling your tools. that is the future
comp56
my right hand made in to a fist spells my name on my tools......just kidding....I don't work in the field any more or a shop among other workers so I don't really need my name on them however back in the day I used to hide my name somewhere under a cover plate or somewhere not noticeable so that way if it came time to proof something it was there still and not scratched off because it wasn't right in your face......
TylerDama
I just put purple electrical tape on everyone of my tools, all of my co-workers know what is mine.
TylerDama
On power tools you might want to place your tape over the serial number, not only is that space sometimes recessed but also protects the number from damage (manufactures won't respect any warranty if the serial number is damaged in any way). Samuel L.
Engrave is the best way to go :} It is harder for a thief to remove. I have a buddy who records the serial number engraves his name and then takes a paint pen over it then takes off the case engraves the inside and colors the inside with a highlighter so when it gets hit with a black light it glows like Christmas lights I call him paranoid but it sounds like an okay idea. BIGBEARJT
when it comes to tools, if it takes care of me, i take care of them, i never throw caution to the wind when it comes to my tools. paranoid i may be, but i never had tools stolen. if i cant engrave i use steel tool dies for marking them. chadlanthier
Tools are locked. If I catch someone stealing my tools, I shoot them in the hand with framing nailer. Problem solved.

astroboy
For me it's not about theft but me keeping track of them. There are a LOT of millwaukee m18 batteries around work at this point. And I have a lot of casual labour in who also have them. I would just love it if an identity system was implemented by the manufacturer
